I'm living in Texas now, so I don't have all the local news from Roanoke area, but I saw that Franklin County high school had a March enrollment figure of 1400 or so, what is happening? FCHS enrollment has been 2000 plus since I attended in the 80's.

VADoE website suggests Franklin County had 1925 full time students in 2021/2022. If you were looking at the March 2022 ADM figures, those only count grades 9-11. Only counting the freshman through junior classes is an approach VHSL is taking for the next 4-year cycle.

That's interesting, the Roanoke Times article says they are dropping from Division 6 to Division 5, which was a surprise to me.
Considering the 1433 ADM figure Franklin County has with 63 schools in Virginia having a higher ADM, why is that surprising? It appears the Class 5/Class 6 divide is 1500.

That's good for FC. The C3 teams in the district are now required to play them. Unless they changed it, schools that are 3 classifications lower could opt out of playing

Texas is a long way from home. Whereabouts out there?

Somebody told me yesterday that Texas groups their districts based solely on enrollment? Regardless of travel distance. Can you verify this?
