Franklin's DeMarge White has blazing speed and was a problem for the Drifters from the start.

FRANKLIN- Colonial Beach came in with the momentum and having one game under their belt while Franklin had several players looking to make their mark in their first game of the season. When the game started though the Broncos looked like a veteran squad in many aspects right from the opening kick-off.

DeMarge White found a whole near the visitors sideline and hit it out racing Drifters down the field for the 99-yard kick-off return. Dariun Everett (6ft, 225 pounds) would cash in the two points to make it 8-0, Broncos with 11:46 on the clock in the 1st.

Coach Jeremy Jack made sure to keep his guys spirit up after that let down and they would respond. Quarterback Alonzo Turner would take the ball down the home sideline just stepping out after a 42-yard gain. The Drifters would get a bit sloppy with the ball as Turner would see a fumble into the endzone recovered by a teammate. Bailey Allison would catch the conversion pass from Turner to tie things up 8 all with the 10:06 mark in the 1st.

Dariun Everett has hard to bring down as Franklin relied on their rushing attack to lead.

Franklin would try to drive down the field but the Drifters would make a defensive stand stopping them at the 26-yard line. From there Colonial Beach soon turnover the football and Franklin would fumble it right back. Everything would remain tied until Colonial Beach would answer with Cole Setliff going in from 4 yards out giving the Drifters the lead. Their stand out back Lamar Lucas would get the conversion making it 16-8 Colonial Beach with 7:58 left in the 2nd.

Franklin would respond as quarterback Fred Lassiter (6 foot 4, 230 pounds) would power his way in on a short run making it 16-14 Colonial Beach up with 4:29 left until halftime.

Colonial Beach would begin to lose their offensive rhythm but Franklin was just getting into gear. Franklin would turn to Lynn Lawson (6 ft, 220 pounds) to muscle his way in from 5 yards out giving Franklin the lead at the half 20-16.

Lassiter prepares to hand it off to White who would get big yardage for Franklin.

In the second half, more woes for the Drifters as Lucas would fumble as the promising drive had crossed into Bronco territory. On the very next play White would strike galloping 52-yards for the touchdown. As Franklin would rely on their defense to step up and stall the Drifters attempts to have something to rally about.

The Broncos were impressive in their first game and being inexperienced in several areas. Franklin has depth and size and earned a key win tonight that will pay off when the seeding for the playoffs start.

Turner would lose the ball but it was an issue the Drifters couldn't shake.

Colonial Beach (1-1) will come down south for another week as they face Sussex Central(2-0). Franklin (1-1) will play 2 games next week as the travel to Arcadia Tuesday and then up to Charles City (1-2) on Friday.
