"<span id="article_font">The offense is near or at the bottom in most offensive categories in the SEC and the country. Auburn ranks 104th in total offense (309.2 yards per game), 105th in pass efficiency (104.98), tied for 111th in red zone offense (65 percent) and 112th in third-down conversions (29.7 percent)."</span>

his offense, the true air raid version, is about what we all want anyway. Spreading the field and finding a series of basic plays that the team can run really well.

we go to a bowl despite our offense and our OC gets a raise and is defended for his great coaching at ever turn by Sly. Auburn is 4-2 despite their ****** offense and they fire their OC midseason.

We are MSSTATE.

a college coordinator has been let go at the halfway point of the season?

I realize NFL, NBA, MLBaseball, etc fire coaches all the time and at any point during the season, but I can't remember if I have heard of a SEC coordinator being let go like this after such a short time?

I guess these m'fers are setting a NEW SEC precedent and we will probably see more coordinator's getting the hatchet more often now. (well, except for Woody and our Special Teams coach).

The only other time I remember a coordinator being fired so quickly was when Coach O (I think back in 2005) fired one of his dumbass asst. coach's because said dumbass asst. was found passed out stoned, drunk and naked in his car while trying to stalk some Sorority chicks in Oxford.

got fired, sued the school, miraculously got an nfl job, and then got arrested for driving naked and was then fired a second time. Not sure what he is doing now.

Craziest part about all this is that Auburn plays Arkansas in 3 days, but then has an off week. Why wouldn't Tubbs wait and make the change in the off week? The Bama fans are gonna eat this up. Sound like Tubbs is getting desperate.

it's a whole new recruiting world for him. He had to get out in front of the situation and salvage what he could to get "in" on some guys who aren't even sniffing AU right now.

We ain't talking about state fans here. AU actually has people that demand performance from the coach.

was aimed at Franklin. A good bit of it was aimed at Tubby. This was the best way for him to quiet those critics for the rest of this season. And coming the week of the Arkansas game will help too. Their offense will look better this weekend, just because Arkansas sucks so bad. Better to have the good offensive game come after the scapegoat has been fired (not that I think Franklin's really a scapegoat here, he's a very large part of the problem).

and I like it. With that being said, would you take Franklin here?

He just doesn't know what the hell he's doing. We need someone that has had consistent success. Plus, I believe Franklin went from UK to Troy State- I believe. That is a step down unless he became Troy State's HC.

and lost his job when Mumme got caught being one of the biggest cheaters in the sec. He narced on someone during the fiasco and got black balled from coaching so he developed the tony franklin system and sold it to highschools. He then got a job at Troy and did extrememly well there. I still think the system failed at AU because Tubs did not support him by demanding that everyone involved bought into it 100%; in fact, i think tubs kept him from implementing the thing completely. When you look at Mich and Ark, you realize that the transition is not going to happen overnight. Are people saying that Rich Rod and Petrino can no longer coach?

exactly what happened. But to answer your second question, no. The difference is that Franklin has been rumored to have some very unorthodox things about his system. He's basically the Russ McNickle of the spread.

may have been overrated. And there's no question that Franklin was overrated. Look for Auburn's offense to improve the rest of the season. It won't be great by any means, but they will be better than the first half of the year.

That sounds right.....we should get the guy that used to coach the run & shoot at Houston until he got fired for mixing in porn scenes with the game film.

in the SEC where most teams have 4 DB's that can run 4.3-4.5. You don't ususally see a HS team with 2 above average DB's, much less 4.

In HS, all you need is a decent QB and 4 receivers (that can run a pattern) and you can ring up big #'s with the spread.

Todd (AU's QB) couldn't get through his "reads" quick enough. The SEC defensive speed really has limited his productivity this season,... along with the fact that AU only had 1 above average receiver entering this season.

Look for AU to run more plays like they did during the 1st quarter of their Vandy game.
