Wasn't Freeze's contract supposed to be finished about 2 weeks ago?

Are they holding out for possible other bidders? For a winning record?

Does TSUN have the means to pay two "full-time" head coaches and recruits?

Seriously?

2 mil a year base, 100k per SEC win, and associate head coaches all got their pay raised by 10%

A half-million pay increase? What's the point of that one year in? That ties them now with the Kentucky for lowest paid coach in the SEC. (Auburn's paying 2.3 million/yr; PigU and UT each pay over 3 million/yr).

ETA II: Compensation reduction:
The latter has been amended to $100,000 per SEC win beginning with the second conference victory.

Freeze's contract is laden with incentives. If he meets all of them, his salary will be 3 mil. He also has incentives with graduation rate and academic achievement.

To be honest, the big thing to me is that they were proactive, especially with getting the asst. coaches a raise. They didn't wait for some school to court Freeze and co. like Pete Boone would've done. I know our S&C coach Paul Jackson had received some interest but Bjork had begun renegotiating his contract mid-season.

I think State and Ole Miss both have great AD's who really understand what it's going to take for schools like Ole Miss and State to compete with the big money schools.

You know good and damn well that the Injuns would have inflicted the mule

with one hell of a case of Moultrie knee if we'd rented him. Let's not fool ourselves.

They learned their lesson well with the Nutt fiasco. That is a great way to set up a HC's contract.

Whoaa, what's this "we" stuff. I assumed you were an Ole Miss fan. If anyone besmirches UM on here you swoop and defend them.

Public Perception

having the lowest paid coach in the SEC? bipolar much?

Freeze already had a contract. He wasn't in danger of leaving. Nobody had to give him anything. He was already the lowest paid head coach. He already had incentives. They took away one SEC win and added $400k to make it look like half a million. It was just to please the fans more than the head coach. Youre telling your fans, recruits, and the rest of the nation, this is what we think our head coach is worth for his job this season. But this is his dream job, so money doesn't matter.

Basing my argument on all other recent SEC contracts reups, they pushed them significantly higher up the SEC pole- Mullen, Franklin, Spurrier. Mullen went from $1.2 mil to a little over $2.5 mil AND kept his incentives. Freeze can reach the SEC average if he takes them to the SEC championship game.

Nutt's contract was an obserdity. They gave him 7 years after the beginning. Plus they had to pay him a buyout whether they fired him or he quit. Razorback fans told them it was stupid. Then he left the program in worse shape than he found it.

Why are you so concerned with what our coach is paid if he doesn't give a 17 and is happy with the contract? You think Jimmy Sexton would let Ole Miss screw Freeze in a contract? Hell no.

Pay the man

Because your fan base cares. Because you feel the need to st the record straight. For the past two months all that was said was "pay the man". All TSUN did was throw some pocket change at him. It's funny how TSUN can outbid ANYBODY if Freeze wants to leave, but pulling the program out of the abyss merits only a DeVinner handshake.

I think Jimmy Sexton just low-balled Freeze. Own it.
