The percentages say go for 4th and inches in ALL situations. I wish Ole Miss had some ***** coach who would ignore the percentages to be "safe," but they don't.

I agree completely that, with the way the OM defense was playing, Freeze did the right thing by going for it. The problem is that UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES on 4th and a quarter inch, do you get in the shot gun. You QB sneak that 100 out of 100 times.

And in the shotgun with a 5'2" 130lb tailback in the back field

Mullen has tried that shotgun **** on 4th and short too many times as well.

When up by 4 with little time on the clock you punt. What if there was under a minute on the clock? Still go with the percentage? All situations? No way.

I would have gone for it but he should have sneaked for it. Would have been much harder to stop that for an inch than a handoff in the backfield. But even with that the Bear offense had plenty of time to go score again if they hadn't thrown the pick.

Bingo. The problem was not going for it; the problem was putting the QB in the shotgun.

Exactly. You get under center and sneak it for the first down. Freeze blew it by not having a timeout left. If he would have had a timeout I think he thinks it through, gets them in the right formation and they win the game.

Burning his last timeout right after they took his second to last timeout was 17ing dumb too. He went from 2 timeouts to zero in a span of 5 seconds.

I could not believe he went for it and I still can't, what a 17 up. He and

Mullen both need to give up that shotgun approach when you need a yard or less.

Wow, that was an epic loss.

For those that think he made the right call, you are *** stupid as coach O. With a 4 point lead at home with under 4 to play and inside ur own 30, u punt and make them score a TD to win. Especially if ur Def has played pretty good outside of a couple of big plays.

This was O the coach all over again!!!

You punt the ball. bit...

if you don't punt you sneak and if its close the refs might make a spot in your favor.

As a pragmatist,no he didn't. To make that the right call u sneak it. Hugh didn't therefore, the wrong call. I will say this, he did have to take into account ATM s ability to score after a punt. He didn't trust his defense.

Any football coach would punt..

Now a high school girls basketball coach goes for it every time.

Exactly. Saying go for it isn't enough, you could be saying running a double reverse pass there would be the right decision. You have to run the right play.

I can't agree with that. You punt every time. If they were on aTm's side of the field? Then yes you play the percentages. If time is running short, you are leading, and you would give them a short field if you failed, you punt.
