It might weaken their seed. Pitino was giving them a pep talk and referring to their ncaa tournament aspirations before or during the Providence gameWhat do the johnnies really have to play for?
Winning BE tourney not gonna improve their seed and risk injury
I remember bill self saying years back not the worst thing in the world to lose early in conference tourney..
We all operate on different bandwidths. But cant imagime this being the first time a SHU fan was engaged.
Ok thanksWe all operate on different bandwidths. But cant imagime this being the first time a SHU fan was engaged.
Because of our metrics, the worst it possibly does is move them from a 4 seed to a 5 seed.It might weaken their seed. Pitino was giving them a pep talk and referring to their ncaa tournament aspirations before or during the Providence game
Winning BE probably only solidifies them as a 4, instead of a possible 5 seed. What do the johnnies really have to play for?

you weren't engaged when they were ranked? sounds like you only started watching a month agoOk thanks
On fox broadcast network as a lead in to wbcShould this thread be renamed to Friday late afternoon MSG. Does our game really start at 5:30
lol ok. I was at the Marquette game with my girls for their first ever sporting event..when’s the last time you were at a game? You just show up to prop up Sha to make your crazy anti KW stuff to look betteryou weren't engaged when they were ranked? sounds like you only started watching a month ago
lol i was at the marquette game too.lol ok. I was at the Marquette game with my girls for their first ever sporting event..when’s the last time you were at a game? You just show up to prop up Sha to make your crazy anti KW stuff to look better
And take shots at the school
I watch the games but always felt like we were more pretender than contender. Even ranked it was hollow..nice accomplishment but didn’t seem real deal
This game though, will have some juice and is a very real opportunity for these guys to show something in a high profile spot..they need to win the BET to make the NCAAT that story will just continue to grow and grow nationally..that is cool, they earned it they deserve it and I hope they win big
Having StJohns back is a panacea for the BE and the MSG deal. This group of schools virtually guarantees sellouts yesterday and today.Mot suprised high, when top 2 teams in conference are SJ and UConn.
Yea I am surprised tell me more pleaselol i was at the marquette game too.
did you know they're ranked? were you surprised to hear that just now ?
To each his own but that’s a terrible take in my opinion.lol ok. I was at the Marquette game with my girls for their first ever sporting event..when’s the last time you were at a game? You just show up to prop up Sha to make your crazy anti KW stuff to look better

This team was built for this tournament, now all we need is a few 3’s to drop and our defense turns this into a street fight. We have the right coach for this moment. If I were a betting man, I might place a few bucks on the Pirates tomorrow.
They've got some intangibles working for them right now. The Dar Factor, the Sha COY, more on the line than the Johnnies, the chip on their shoulder attitude that brings out the best.......some real positive mojo. Love the energy..... a win tomorrow would set the stage for a real Pirate explosion Saturday. Go Pirates!!!
I was trying to ascertain what you meant by this beyond our defense turning the game into a street fight (which didn't happen), given Sha's track record in the Big East tournament to date. Chalk it up to pre-game excitement. This team was built for this tournament, now all we need is a few 3’s to drop and our defense turns this into a street fight. Yes we needed a few 3's to drop , that is why we must get a shooter next year .This team was built for this tournament, now all we need is a few 3’s to drop and our defense turns this into a street fight. We have the right coach for this moment.
We shot 50% from 3 in the first half.Yes we needed a few 3's to drop , that is why we must get a shooter next year .
At points throughout the season we would see Holloway change the lineup coming out of halftime. I don’t understand with the season on the line why he would roll out the same 5 guys.We shot 50% from 3 in the first half.
This game was lost in the first 8 minutes of the game and 2nd half.
Payne, Fisher it is so obvious to me in the first minute of the game what you will get out of them. Against Creighton Fisher was strong and Payne was bouncy and active. Both contributed nicely for the game.
Last night Fisher gets outworked when he should have secured the opening tip possession, then gets beat by Mitchell for an off rebound and put back. Set the tone for saint john's right there.
We all saw Payne's first 3 minutes.
I disagree with Sha. We did punch back with Hines and Rivera.
Parker helped.
BUT Simpkins nullified some of that good play on both ends of the floor
Dar not seen for first 14 minutes
We roll out the same starting lineup in 2nd half, lead balloons to 17 or 19, we sub and have to claw our way back. Too short but Pitinonknew there was danger.
I like Sha as much as anyone around here, but I will say what I said a few weeks ago, his biggest failing was not finding a role for Dar this season.
Last night was also a prime example of his loyalty to Payne, Fisher and Simpkins as our ultimate undoing.
Our D is so much better with Parker, Dar and Clark on floor. WIlliams as well. In the 2nd half we should have added that group to ASM and Hines and roll with that rotation. Sprinkle the others as needed for rest.
So frustrating.
Stuck with rivera too long.all year. should have played fifty percent of avg this year, band the rest to Dar at a min.At points throughout the season we would see Holloway change the lineup coming out of halftime. I don’t understand with the season on the line why he would roll out the same 5 guys.
I also think he stuck with Riveria too long.
Riveria had to set a record for committing fouls 90 feet from the basket.Stuck with rivera too long.all year. should have played fifty percent of avg this year, band the rest to Dar at a min.
I get why he used him because he gives us that physicality and athleticism up front but, you're absolutely right too many flaws when he gets extended minutes.Riveria had to set a record for committing fouls 90 feet from the basket.
What does Dar look like in practice to get so little playing time? And we wouldn’t even be mentioning him if not for Rivera getting 2 quick fouls on Thursday.Stuck with rivera too long.all year. should have played fifty percent of avg this year, band the rest to Dar at a min.
I agree.None of us are in practice, and there has to be a reason. He doesn't play I guess. I said it on hit this board after one of the x games. I definitely saw his mistakes on limited play before this weekend. But honestly for a team that doesn't shoot well from two or three. He's always around the ball is pretty efficient and works on defense with great length. What does Dar look like in practice to get so little playing time? And we wouldn’t even be mentioning him if not for Rivera getting 2 quick fouls on Thursday.
Didn't we think we got them?Yes we needed a few 3's to drop , that is why we must get a shooter next year .
All under 40% .Didn't we think we got them?
Staton-McCray, 41.3% 2 years ago at Samford, 33.3% this year
Williams, 37.1% 2 years ago at LSU, 33.7% this year
Dar, 37% last year at Rice, 19.0% this year
Simpkins, 26.3% least year at Elon, 37% this year but only 31.9% in the BE (at least he improved)
Parker, 35.7% last year at NC State, 20.5% this year
A whopping 43 players are shooting over 40% from 3, 5 are over 45%, none over 50%.All the top shooters in D1 shoot well over 40% closer to 50%.
Didn't we think we got them?

Probably not fair to evaluate the coach's "player development ability" this year by only looking at whether the players improved on their three-point shooting percentage. There are other aspects of the game.If that's not an indictment of the coach, his player development ability, and his offensive system (or lack of it), I don't know what is.
