May eat those words after next year. As much as the end of this season sucked....it doesn't suck near as bad as losing our "tough" schedule next season and watching the bowl games at home will.
We did not belong in a bowl game and it showed. When you schedule poor teams you learn to win poorly.

So, you'd rather not have made the bowl game? That would have done a lot for our program. Get a clue. We DID belong in a bowl game because we won 8 games.

Kentucky went to 5 straight bowl games with this scheduling. Their program really took off. Remind me about all the respect UK football got during their 2006-2010 streak. I don't agree with this philosophy. Scott studied under Barnhart before coming home. We will never improve and our national rep will suffer.
Alot more than they have right now -- where a good Louisville team has kept them from bowling last year.

We play (soon to be) 5 of the past 6 national champions every year.
So we should schedule harder teams so that we won't go bowling? What's your point?
Would we have been any better having lost to Alabama, LSU, aTm, and Ole Miss on weeks spread thoughout the season instead of backloaded at the end? I doubt it.

There are several levels of talent between OSU and USA. I think we would be better off in the long run playing teams that would at least be legit competition, than intramural games with SWAC schools. Play Maryland. We'd beat them; the game would draw a good crowd, and we'd be a whole lot better prepared when we got to the meat of the SEC schedule. South Panola would have been an upgrade to some of the teams we played. Then we get to Bama, and we aren't remotely ready to see size that fast. Play someone you have to get ready for so every game isn't a trap. Get combat experience.

I'd vote for a better non-conference schedule.
Getting rid of a game would be preferable to playing some of the sub-par teams we played this year. I prefer to play some decent non-conference teams.
Let's get good enough, with emphasis on conference play, to earn a bowl game. We can. If we say that we can't be competitive in the SEC, we need to move to a conference where we can be.
