Oh, I thought you just turned 21. You may want to consider going back to being an avid reader because you bring nothing to the table as a poster.

maybe more of a down the street from the stadium gathering/production , you can't even see VHS from the grove.
Good point. Of all the things there were to dislike about my most recent trip to Oxford (Egg Bowl loss on El Capitan's noble effort at a 50+ yard field goal), one of the things I hated most was the awkward walk from the tailgating/picknicing area to the stadium. They pride themselves on not being a cow college, but they make you feel like cattle getting in and out of the stadium. The whole damn place funnels through one place the size of Gate 1 at Davis Wade Stadium.

You are dead on today. I'm going into early retirement at the request of Cotton District Yeti, but I couldn't resist with what this bama fan had to say about our gameday experience.

neither time did I see anything remotely close to tailgating. With convenient stores directly across the street from the campus there isn't much room for it. Do they only tailgate on a certain side of the campus?

Also, I hope they try to get on campus 2 hours before kickoff. That *** will still be in traffic when kickoff arrives.

but it was more commercialized with business tents than actual people tailgating.

I want to believe that someone created an account just to make fun of the terribleness that is Lee Thorne, but this post makes me think it may actually be Lee.

Hold that Tiger", it gave me chills as an opposing fan.

Same here. But it isn't Hold that Tiger. It is their pre-game routine. I think they call it Touchdown LSU. But the whole show of the band marching out and addressing each corner of the stadium and so on. That is the best thing I have ever seen in college football. But the spell out at the end of Hold that Tiger is pretty cool.

The parting of the T...........it was Ok. Auburn's band marching around the stadium.....pretty cool.

The wierdest thing I have ever exprerienced was pregame at Tuscaloosa in 99. When they started that video of "Tha Bar", that place fell silent and it seemed not a soul was moving. It looked like that scene from Apocalypse Now when Martin Sheen gets off the boat looking for Brando's character and all those jungle people are standing completely still and staring at him. But Bama's fight song....Yea Alabama......hands down the best. They can still go to hell.....but Yea Alabama is good.

I am just on my knees praying that this is actually him.

So with his response it seems logical... But can we really be this lucky?

<span><span>I agree...I have probably been to 50-60 different venues and it is all the same.? Maybe only a few that really stand out as being unique.? LSU's Hold That Tiger, UT spreading the T is cool, I guess.? FSU with Chief Osceola and Clemson coming down the hill.?

Hotter women.

Not that there isn't talent in The Junction. There is plenty. There's just more of it in The Grove. The Grove is just one damn jaw dropping experience after another. I'm tellin ya, in Oxford they redshirt Miss America contestants.

Prior to the rise of The Junction, MSU had nothing that compared to The Grove. Today.....its a push. I dare say Ole Miss had a several year head start on the rest of the SEC in tailgating. Its just in the last few years that everybody else has just as big of an outside-the-stadium gathering/production as Rebel fans do.
So, what you're saying is that The Grove is the Dudy Noble Field of tailgating, ie, once the best place in the world to tailgate but now just middle of the pack at best.

Seriously, I'd say the SEC has the best tailgating in the country. The Mississippi State University usually ranks in the bottom third...compared to other SEC schools. However, whenever non-conference teams from other parts of the country come to our campus, they're completely blown away by how we do it. I remember when we played Oklahoma St. in 1999, and their fans were astounded by the set ups, the TV's w/the satellite dishes, the quantity and quality of food, etc. They had never seen anything like it before in their lives.

if you like watching the student body arrive 20 minutes before gametime, or perhaps if you like being shoved into your seat like a sardine so they can claim to seat 100K.
