Another Ole Miss troll posing as an MSU fan

Tyler needs to stay in Meridian. He will never fit the offense and Mullen will never adjust to him. We are soft as a team and we have no offensive identity because of him.

And here they are, the Ole Miss posers trying to convince potential recruits not to come to us. Take a hike, loser. You're fooling nobody.

I don't disagree with what she said and I do think most people overreacted but

Isn't being able to be frank and honest the reason why this board was founded?

For my part I was not angry with Russell. He was having a horrible day, and it seemed obvious he needed to be taken out and replaced by Dak. I was FURIOUS with Dan. First time since we hired him that I was actually agreeing with some that it may be time for him to move on. I'd been feeling for some time that Dan wasn't performing well as a game-day coach. He's made some bone-head mistakes every year, but I figured that was part of his learning curve as a HC, and was vastly offset by all the positives he's brought to our program. But this team has taken 2 big steps backward 2 years-in-a-row after 1 very impressive season in year 2. And don't give me, "but we won 8 and have gone to 3 bowls in a row", because it's painfully obvious that in a normal year for Auburn & Arky we lose those games, and quite likely the Tn game as well. As a fan I gave Dan a pass for last year due to injuries, bad bounces, etc. But this year was just plain terrible.

I've never gone by won/loss record alone when evaluating the direction of our program or the potential. When we were going into the Ole Miss game 3 years ago, I KNEW we were going to beat them, and possibly handily. Took a helluva beating on another message board from Ole Miss posters who thought I was out of my mind delusional. Well, I knew it then because we played well despite the losses. This year we won games despite looking like crap on the field. We should have gotten more from our coaching staff this year. I would much rather have gone 7-5 this year with encouraging performances in some tough losses than what we did. At least then I'd still feel like the team was on-the-verge. But watching the product on the field this year makes me feel we are headed in the wrong direction, particularly how we flat our laid an egg against Ole Miss & then Nw. For me, I needed to see Dan kick some *** in the Gator Bowl. Instead I got to watch another crappy performance exacerbated by the inexplicable decision by Dan to leave Tyler in the game beyond the point where it should have been obvious to a 3rd-grader that he needed to come out. That's on Dan, not Tyler. Tyler had a bad, bad day, perhaps due to the ankle injury, perhaps the lack of practice due to the injury. It started bad, then snowballed on him. I've been there & done that. Sometimes it just plain happens. It's excusable. But Dan leaving Tyler in, and allowing the same tired, predictable failing play-calling on offense was just more than I could stand to watch.

I love the Mullen's for what they did to help our program get started down the right path, and for raising the expectations of our fan base. But dammit, Dan needs to show me something next year. He has flat out not got the job done the past 2. Still willing to cut some slack on 2011, but we can't follow 2012 with a repeat of the crap we saw on the field this year. The Mullen's have changed me into a fan that expects and demands more. Time to get the ship righted again, Dan!

Couldn't agree more. Mullen brought on these expectations, now he needs to deliver. That being said, I think he will. I like the changes that were made and I think Collins will do well for us. Hopefully something with the offense is addressed next.

We need to work on some quick hitter timing routes.

This. The few times we ran these, they worked to perfection, only to be abandoned for mostly slow-developing intermediate crossing and post routes that need either a stronger running game than we had or a mobile quarterback to slow down the pass rush. With just small tweaks like this, Russell could be perfectly successful, even more so than he individually already was, in Mullen's offense. It's not like it's going to take drastic changes like some are claiming.

Any message board posts from Mrs. Wilson?**

I know that the majority of the fans support our boys unconditionally and Tyler knows that as well. Some of the comments that were posted in social forums about my son were heartbreaking and crossed the line. Please know that parents do read this board and so do recruits.*I usually ignore the negative comments because I*have come to understand*that a legless man cannot provide a valid critique of a runner. He has no way of putting himself in the runner's shoes.
(1) Why is she perusing the board if she didn't want to know the negative comments? Did she offer any explanation to her son's poor performance? (2) This comment about not understanding someone's situation because of uniqueness is a fallacy. So when she tells her son that he played well, is she straight up lying to him because she's never played the position? That's like saying that I should stop watching the Tour de France because I've never cycled up a mountain or not study astrophysics because i've never been in space. The people making those comments either make valid critiques of his play or invalid critiques. It doesn't take a rocket(scientist)frommars to know that 5 interceptions is a terrible performance.

I have had a front row seat and have watched what these kids go through on a daily basis.**If ever faced with the choice to kick them when they are down, or to extend a hand to lift them up, I hope you choose the latter. We are a family. In a family, sometimes it is more important to be kind than to be right. My son said, "Mom, let it go. They are just upset about the game. I am good. *Forgive them."
If we wanted to be right than kind, Dak Prescott would have played the rest of the game. Besides, can Tyler Russell say that he was prepared to play the game and play at a high level? I would hope that MSU football is more about what's best for the team than somebody's feelings getting hurt. It wasn't on Jan. 1, 2013.

Tyler had a bad game...

it will not be the last time in his career that this happens or something similar, that's the "nature of the beast." Parents have to learn how to deal with it.

Her son will be in the NFL. He might not be a first or second round draft choice but he will be on a NFL roster. He had a bad game after a long lay off. Lets not forget thier QB made mistakes but they made better of ours then we did theirs and Russell can't help a line man moving early when they got a first and goal on the three yard line.

And if she think's State fans have been bad, she better get prepared to hear a bunch of drunk NFL fans whenever Tyler throws a Pick 6.

Mrs. Russell is a fine lady who raised a well mannered and respectful son. How many times has Tyler had off the field issues. She knows he had terrible game and would not have said one word if Dan had pulled him. She posted the message on genes page to reach as many people as possible. She posted something similar on Facebook. She sees her child hurting and like any mom she is trying to stop the hurt. Prior to the egg bowl it came from black bears texting him all night long. Now our own fans are blowing up his twitter and Facebook about how terrible he is, like he doesn't know.
