Take his link down off this board. This guy is passing off a damn 18 year olds Facebook Status as real news that deserves mainstream press. Pathetic. Let the message boards and humor blogs bat it around all day, doesn't mean he has to run with it as fact. Now, he and Rusty Hampton are ramping it up to a whole other audience. He is a piece of ****. That is all.

His job is not to sugarcoat what goes on. It happened - it wasn't a witchhunt.

I worked for a newspaper before, and I had the ability to tell the editor to put a story on the front page..... NOT!! Get a life. He reported the facts. It IS a story, as is evident by the nationwide coverage.

MSU responded with an official statement because that ******* printed that MSU "is not responding". Screw the whole Veazy hates MSU theory and think about a kid who puts something on his facebook, joke or not, and it is now a lead story. That is applying ZERO judgement by Veazy and Hampton. Like I said 17 em' and feed em butterbeans.

If you really don't want him, I'd take him as the Ole Miss beat writer in a heartbeat.

He's one of the best I've seen at getting information and getting it out quickly, both good and bad. That's all you want from your beat writer, to be on top of all things related to your sports programs.

Any post that refers to any news source as a media outlet that is anti-Mississippi State or biased towards Ole Miss will not be tolerated. Also, after reading an article you don't like, you are forbidden to say you will cancel your subscription to that news source.
Therefore, take this garbage back to Swan's page!!!!!

Can't remember if it did. Would love some insight.

And what about all of the scuttlebutt on Andy Kennedy frequenting the local Oxford pubs?

all joking on their facebook page, with a frat boy joining in the joke as well.

I really think them saying it was a joke will cause even more investigating, since it becomes a story of "did they or didn't they?"

Really good timing with MSU not having a mid week basketball game as well.

Guys, it's VERY possible that putting this on the Front Page was not Veazey's decision - it's Rusty Hampton. He's the one that we might want to get pissed at.

Kennedy frequenting bars isn't a story until he does something like get drunk and punch a cab driver, and then yes it's more than just front page news on the sports section.

I can't remember about Goldie's car, but I'm pretty sure it was front page news since it led to him being removed from the team for the last half of his senior season. When your starting tailback is removed from the team, the reasoning is typically on the front page of the sports section.

and announced that he enjoyed being a judge at the the stripper contest at the KD house, I have a feeling it would make the news. Just a guess.

I thought Goldie got suspended for a game?

If Goldie had a facebook account and started spouting off, "I love my new ride, thank you Mr. Scruggs" I have a feeling it would make the news.

from your frequent trips to Memphis in the 90's. Danny's, I believe was the name of that establishment, if I'm not mistaken.

Show me some quality photo's like the NCAA had on you.

And justifying your basketball coach swilling shots downtown with sorority chicks?
That newsworthy! Just ask Eustachy.

He is an ***. This is not front page news. Young adult men went to a strip club? The kind where its women doing the stripping? That's news? And there is zero indication that the university sponsored it?

VEAZEY, WHAT I REALLY WANT TO KNOW IS.......did any of these guys break the speed limit on the way there. Now THAT's 17ing news. /sarcasm

Seriously, take Veazey's feed down. You probably won't - and I'm starting to think Dawgstudent is no better than the Veazer - promoting a controversial idea (keeping Veazey's feed) just to generate more traffic.

I think this whole thing is overblown, but apparently I'm not up on the rules for official visits. As long as they paid for their own dances, I don't see the big problem with it.

A lot of our fans overreacted because many of them thought we got in trouble for taking guys to an adult establishment in the mid-90s. In reality, what got us in the most trouble with that situation is the fact that it was outside of the approved radius from our campus.

that is what makes it newsworthy.

Not the fact that it involves Strippers and football recruits.

You do understand that once you put the words "Strip Club" in any type of story, it becomes more interesting, i.e. newsworthy.

If they had talked about going to a bar, this wouldn't have made the CL. The fact that it was a strip club made it interesting. Also, I don't think this makes the news if there were rumors about it, but the fact that three guys basically talked about it on the internet, then the CL really had no choice.

Just for one second pretend that this was three Ole Miss recruits, would you have the venom for the CL? Of course not.

I think the guy that went to the trouble of checking on recruit statuses is a sad individual for caring that much. And I know that in the days before the internet, this wouldn't even be in the news, so I don't see it as a huge deal personally. However, others obviously disagree, including your athletic department that felt compelled to make a statement on it, which is why it's getting more play in the news.

Regardless, I still think a lot of people are deflecting the blame for this to the wrong people. This ultimately falls on those people who thought facebook was private.

How can you people sit here and pretend that stuff that has started on message boards like this one has never led to stories picked up all across the world of sports? Jesus people its not like Kyle is the one trolling facebook looking for this stuff. That job belongs to the psychotic masses who have nothing better to do than fan their hatred for all things MSU. The same thing goes for the same group of people who are blatantly blinded by their desire to do everything in their power to see Ole Miss fail. These groups do nothing but perpetrate a completely retarded, never-ending cycle that hurts both of our programs.

Veazey could have not written one sentence on this and it still would have made its way into the headlines/press and then he'd be sitting there looking like he couldn't do his job as a JOURNALIST. You know that group that reports on news, both good and bad? I'm amazed we've gone this long without having these damn "Veazey is a closet Rebel!!!1!" posts popping up. With all the crazies running around the interwebz, I think that speaks volumes about the work he has done as our beat writer.

AK fighting terrorism - newsworthy.

AK hanging out at college night - shameful and a bit creepy, perhaps, but not newsworthy. What are you going to report?

For the record, I think this whole %!$%*+@ thing is retarded.

on the recruits' boards was affiliated with the University? He wasn't a host or anything was he?

If he wasn't affiliated with the university other than being a student, it would be nice if legitimate newspapers avoided tabloid like stories about 18 year olds that would be of no interest to anybody if they hadn't posted stupid **** on facebook.

However, since "legitimate" newspapers are getting murdered now, in part by internet media that posts these same stories, it's kind of hard to blame them for trying to stir up business. I'd rather have a newspaper giving people what they want (and people obviously want to know about 18 year old kids lives) than the alternative, which would be a newspaper funded by the gov't or other special interest group

If not, your theory on him agreeing with Veazy to increase site traffic is just silly.

If he's not making money off of it, is he just increasing traffic so he can brag about his uber-popular message board? Awesome.

The real stripe clubs are on the other side of the Pacific. They did not have lap dances. That was for you Frat boys back here in the states. They had Banana show, sex shows, long neck beer bottle shows, snake show and in Okinawa at the Naha Music Club (AKA the Stage) when the music stopped, you could walk over to the stage and every one who did would roll a six sided dice. The one with the highest dice roll got to have sex with the striper. The only catch is you have to do it on the stage while everyone boos or cheers you on. The bars, clubs and stripe joints over there make these over here look like church.

What the hell does Byrne do after that? Yes, comment on it.

True. I still think blaming your beat writer is not the way to go. This is just your turn to have an incident of some sort with 18-22 year olds. We'll have a group get into a bar fight or give a shun face to the police in a few weeks.

That, or you'll have people that are even bigger losers than our facebook stalker who will stake out our recruiting weekend this weekend, and they'll take a picture of a recruit with a beer or something. And if any of that happens, it'll be reported, and it won't be the beat writer's fault.
