Seems like a natural. I’m assuming the pros allow him to maintain his AAU team? I know that kept him out of college according to various reports posted on this board when Cal was looking to fill a vacancy a time or two.

I think he has the potential to be a decent coach. Whether or not he progresses in a “coach” capacity is a crap shoot… But for sure he was hell of a player.

Pope should reach out to him immediately and see if he would be interested some sort of position in the future. Everybody that has ever been around Rondo rave about his intelligence in the game of basketball from his coaches to players he played with calling him the smarest player they've ever been around throwing out quotes like" He's a savant he sees everything". Plus he would be a player magnet in recruting not only for new recruits but for players in the portal.

Ehh I just don't see that coming to fruition at anytime. I think Rondo is probably looking for somewhere where he can be the lead guy. I think Pope probably has a lot of respect for Rondo and vice versa but Rondo has a very strong personality and I just don't think it fits into what we have going on at this time at least.

Lets hope this never happens but it looks like Cal has reached out to Rondo in the past, so you put these two guys together recruiting at Arkansas it would be take up the song books it's over. Add that with Rondo's attention to detail and knowledge of the game and his ability to think and see everything in realtime it's Game over. And Yes I think Rondo is one of the few Cal would listen to.

There is zero question on his knowledge and IQ for the game. Top teir there.

I do question his temperament and patience, but getting older helps that usually.

He could be a great one.

We have a weird contingent of UK fans who openly trash him on here. Not sure why that it is. He's always been loyal to UK and has been one of our most successful players in the NBA.

I honestly don’t think those 2 personalities can make it through a season together. Cal wants it his way and Rondo is abrasive enough to tell him how moronic he is.

No coach in his right mind is going to bring the drama Rondo will bring into his program.

LOL ! Cal only hires “yes” men . And Rondo is anything but a “yes” man . And NO Cal wouldn’t listen to Rondo.

Since Rondo never completed his degree, he can't Coach at UK anyway. Secondly, there is no way Barnhart approves the hiring of someone with Rondo's rap sheet. So there is that.

I love Rondo's game. I don't know who pissed him off but he needs to get over it. The angry, athlete from the street has played out. You don't have to be a gangster anymore to get respect RR.

No players, college or pro, want a coach thats looking to fight all the time.

That’s totally the opposite of what I have heard about him as far as recruiting. I’ve known people who knew him at UK and they said he is one strange dude. Really quiet, stays to himself, but has a quick temper. He had difficulty with Tubby and other players while here. He had some NBA difficulties fitting in. There was a domestic incident. ??
This is all second hand. I’ve never met him tho.
