I like PR's chances with their QB playing at a very high level, and for CG I have a feeling they're going to pull it off..I think both but CG with the better chance. Those teams have been impressive all playoffs.
The semifinals at home have been a issue for West. Strange things always seem to happen in those games.I haven't seen enough of PR to gauge that matchup although I take Montini's speed to overwhelm them. If GBW does not win by multiple TD's I will eat my hat.
Well youre going to end up eating your hat because you're taking CG very lightly , like every other person. CG/PR combined have been to state 4 times since 2009. Nobody gives them creditI haven't seen enough of PR to gauge that matchup although I take Montini's speed to overwhelm them. If GBW does not win by multiple TD's I will eat my hat.
I would give them a much better chance if they were home on grass. It's pretty typical of this board to take FVC teams lightly in the playoffs. That Montini-PR game next week could be a fantastic game. I think PR has a better chance than most think.
Your assumption that "everyone" is taking CG lightly is way off base, but it does not matter. We heard the same crap about RA. The players definitely won't, and that is what matters. Have fun at Duchon and your drive home..Well you're going t

Don't ruin the narrative.CG and PR are taken lightly in the playoffs?
Stay away from drugs son.
Don't ruin the narrative.
The FV teams do seem to have a long Edgy board history of claiming disrespect. I'm not sure how anyone from CG can still make that claim. Who would take them lightly at this point?
With a win back to Cary , yeah it'll be funYour assumption that "everyone" is taking CG lightly is way off base, but it does not matter. We heard the same crap about RA. The players definitely won't, and that is what matters. Have fun at Duchon and your drive home..
CG's coaching staff is prime. You will hear no disrespect from GW. C-G looks like a beast that will push GW to the brink of their will. We know what that entails.
What you will hear, and to be clear that this is in no way arrogant, is the one style of offense that GW is best suited to play is the option. C-G is no DGN and no one will make the mistake of suggesting such. But DGN put 21 first half points on Lville because their option threw Lville for a loop. Good teams adjust and respond, which Lville did. DGN hasn't scored a point vs GW in three years. MC runs for 300 vs Glenbard North and GW holds them to 69 yards rushing on a ton of carries. Before you get started on me, remember I am only discussing the style of offense.
I have read many times that C-G runs the best option in IL. If so, and I have no reason to refute, this will be a classic battle of strength against strength. I haven't started watching film yet, but I expect to see enormous offensive linemen making precise blocks creating small slivers that are exploited by talented RBs making the reads they have been taught to make for years.
What I will be curious about is the C-G defense. What type of offenses are they built to stop? Who are their studs? GW has displayed the ability to take what is given. It will be interesting to see where C-G decides to focus their efforts.
I haven't viewed any film on CG yet, but initial analysis give GW a 5 or 6 point advantage. But, I'd guess this game goes to the team with the fewest turnovers.
Did GD93 come back as CG fan? there is a big difference between confidence abd arrogance. Your arrogance is unbelievable. You are such a contrast to most of the MC, RA, HS,HC fans of so many other quality teams that have fought hard against GW. I really hope you are the exception to other CG fan for their sake. With a win back to Cary , yeah it'll be fun
I hope the forecast is wrong, or at least the rain total is under 1/2 inch. But I did notice that the forecast for Saturday morning is snow showers.I'll give you 3 1/2 points, but let's not get out of hand. C-G knows how to win and won't be intimidated. It could come. Down to the kicking game. If we get. The 2+inches of rain that is currently forecasted, it could be another 7-3 or 10-7 game.
How do they score 3 1/2 points? Cap keep the faith, looking forward to Gumbo.I'll give you 3 1/2 points, but let's not get out of hand. C-G knows how to win and won't be intimidated. It could come. CG has thrown the ball good this year, look at J.P Sullivan's completion ratingIs it safe to say, given that CG is not to be underestimated whatsoever, that GW is the favorite to win this game? I'm curious as to what FVC people think about this. I think if you compare scores of the regular season, it seems that GW is favored. By no means is this a sure fire indication of the better team, but it's something I use to base predictions on.
CG's only loss is to Huntley 29-8, who in turn lost to Oswego 17-14, Oswego in turn lost to Marist in a game which lacked defense. Marist lost to Benet 29-25, CG in turn handled Benet. GW hasn't lost yet. Lol, clearly this way isn't the best for considering future match ups (consider that WV lost to NN and is in the 8A semis). Is it possible to draw a clear distinction as to why GW or CG might be the favorite?
Edit: I think capnbill's analysis of GW's run defense against option teams might be a darn good reason to suspect GW as the favorite. To add to the analysis, GW was ran on by Hins South and Central, but South only had 141 yds compared to Centrals' 256 (acc. to Maxpreps), and their running scheme is closer to the option than Central's.
Last question to the FVC people, has CG thrown the ball well in passing situations?
Because these kids know how to win and have succeeded together (seniors and juniors). The seniors right now have seen two CG teams make it to state in 2012 in 6a and last year 7a. They know what it takes, this team wasn't hyped because of how good last year's seniors were, they took the spotlight from them. These kids have always succeeded even at the junior level.Did GD93 come back as CG fan? there is a big difference between confidence abd arrogance. Your arrogance is unbelievable. Well not good.CG has thrown the ball good this year, look at J.P Sullivan's completion rating
All we talk about is the CG offense, don't forget CG has a good defense.Seriously are you that clueless, or did you drop out in 3rd grade?
CG didn't seem like themselves that game against Huntley giving up 3rd and very long downs like 4 times. They seemed kinda surprised that they lost to Huntley. CG was in the game for 3 quarters. They had chances buy couldn't convert. Huntleys defense is very fast! It's all about match ups. Question is can GW stop Tyler Pennington?
It helps because he wears down the defense trying to tackle him. Listen to what Benet and Batavia said about trying to tackle down Pennington.I guess that is the question. Since half time of the HC game, no one has run for 100 yards against GW. Moline ran a similar style as C-G but with less edge speed. They had some bruisers and their coach decided to try to ."run it down GWs throats." They ran for 26 yards. Again, Moline is not in the same area code as Pennington. But I don't think Pennington will get 100 yards unless he runs it 35+ times. Maybe he will run it that many times and have success. Is that "stopping him?"
Game of the wk in my book and then comes MCHS/PR.Let's hope so Dino. each of the last three Semis at GW have been classic football games. Weather shows that it will be chilly, so it may come down to a matter of turnovers. Both teams look like they have huge positive turnover ratios this year, so it may come down to who breaks first.
C-G will bring their A game I'm sure, so really excited to see how this plays out.
