I travel to Wytheville several times a week and have some close friends from Wytheville . The players and coaches have nothing but respect for the players on Galax and their coaching staff .
Nobody said the coaches and players didn't have respect for Galax but there is talk out of Wythe county about the back being soft....

Sure am glad @GKKING Won the pick em last week and decided to go with this one as gotw. The build up and hype so far is awesome. Hope it a good game and it all gets decided on Friday night.
And btw don’t let what you read on other sites dictate your opinion on wythe co as a whole. There’s always gonna be one in the crowd that try’s to make everyone else look bad. It’s like that with every team you see. Some fans know how to win with class and also know how to lose with dignity.

The comments over on SWVA board was what got my wheels spinning to be honest. I had to see if all that noise was legit or just BS. I have come to find that most posters are genuinely trying to convey what they believe. Of course that is skewed at times by loyalty and hope.

As for having a few fans that like to stir the pot, any post where Riverheads is mentioned has the chance of having a sighting of a infamous yet unconfirmed fan of the Gladiators. By definition the term fan is short for fanatic so you sometimes get that, lol.

Having met Blaster a few years ago, when it comes to GW I pay attention to what he says. Straight shooter with a great grasp of the true attributes of his team. Not taking away from anyone else that I haven't met yet, just pointing out that some posters are like a back up beeper on a construction site and some are the church bell when it rings. One gets ignored after a while and the other is noticed when it rings out.

dont know the running back from galax but i do know a few fans of GW and the reason the kid at galax left gw is because he couldnt win the starting job. 3 schools in three years not sure how thats allowed but oh well.

Umm someone who told you that is uninformed. As according to digital scout he played at fort Chiswell in 2017 and 2018. And attended GW in 2016 as a freshman . I also don't know too many freshmans that can expect to start on varsity at RB.

Whooo...game day ladies and gentlemen. I’m exited to see how this one plays out. The build up this week has been some of the best so far this year.
Two of the better offenses in swva battle it out to see who’s got what it’s gonna take to have a deep run. Hope everyone is safe this evening and leaves it all on the field.
I feel like both teams bring a lot to the table. To me it’s gonna come down to line play, discipline, and making the best of your opponents mistakes.
Best of luck to all...

@Triple Opt, it could be you two meet up again but I would Narrows wants at least a say in that, lol.

Good luck to both teams and you fellas let us know if there is a video of this one. I look for a very closely contested game with a the winner sitting in a pretty good spot to make a ton of noise in late November and early December.

Redpride, neither is my team sir. I was just stating that these two teams will most likely meet up in the second round as Narrows will most likely be 1 seed and GW and Galax( barring an upset in round 1 will most likely have to play to each other to get to the region championship.

Some are saying if the winner of this game runs the table that they might pass narrows for the 1 spot....i still need to sit down and figure the points for the winner of this game and narrows to see of that's possible.

@Triple Opt, no worries.

@MT FAN 91, If the winner runs the table its almost a guarantee they will outpoint Narrows. Narrows is racking up wins but not getting a lot of riders due to those teams not winning. Chilhowie, Auburn and Covington are their biggest rider contributors. Plus both GW and Galax were smart to just play a 9 game schedule losing out on the Bland game. Taking a forfeit there would have cost them on their avg since it would have been the 16 for classification win but no chance at Riders. Below is what I have.

Narrows 162 Classification points
70 Rider points (assuming 35 opponent wins total)
232/10 games or a 23.2
1 Loss GW 144 Classification points
74 Rider points (assuming 42 opponent wins total)
218/9 games or a 24.22
1 Loss Galax 144 Classification points
76 Rider points (assuming 43 opponent wins total)
222/9 games or a 24.6

The rub comes in if the winner of this game were to drop one of their last two.

he was at gw in 2017, no not saying he wanted to start as freshman at gw, he knew he couldn't beat out Wells so he left. Well and him are both seniors

Wow. The RB for Galax had 3 rushing tds. 36yds was the short one. He had 148yds on just the 3 touchdowns alone. Plenty in between. Didn’t expect it to be as lopsided as it was but I hope that young man feels good about his efforts cause all week all I heard about was how SOFT he was...
Galax spread the ball out all night. Line play was a major factor.
GW qb is as good as it gets out west and I’m not so sure he’s ever seen pressure like he saw tonight. Really was expecting him to make plays like always but he never really had time to get past containment.

I would think most people on here would agree that most years on paper, GW has more overall pure talent, and weapons than does Galax. Dixon is 4-1 against GW since 2010. I am specifically thinking of the 2016 match-up when GW was being lauded as a state title contender (they played in the semis) and had weapons all over the field. Galax came to Wytheville (I was there), and methodically punished GW for a 45-20 win.

The 2015 State Championship team beat Riverheads and Essex, two teams that outclassed them from a talent standpoint.

I am not a Galax fan, alumnus, or in any way associated with Galax, but I have an immense amount of respect for Coach Dixon.
I have to disagree on the talent standpoint them and Riverheads the spurlin kid and their running back was best two players on field

Wow Triple Option for someone who is not a Galax supporter you have a ton of info and questions concerning them?

I went to Grayson County, my son played for Grayson County and my daughter cheered for Grayson. I am a Grayson county supporter. Hell me and the wife donated to help build their baseball stadium.
But I live and work in Galax. So I hear alot about Galax during the week from my coworkers. I pull for all area teams - Galax as well as Carroll County when we don't play them. Besides it's not like we have had much to pull for the past couple of years.

I enjoy football. I go to alot of local games. I went to the state championship game the past 4 or 5 years. The past two years I sat on Chilhowies side and rooted for them (alot of good that did) Then stayed for the Graham game and rooted for them.

I didn't know that I cannot be interested in and root for other teams. I guess I've been doing it wrong Thanks for educating me.
