3 Q3 losses previously now another Q3 loss to one of the worst teams in power 6 conference basketball...giving Rutgers a hideous 4 Q3 losses...its a MAJOR RED FLAG on the resume as well as RUs horrific non conference sos of 312

No reason for recap

A comedy of errors

Completely on captains mainly Paul Mulcahy but also Caleb yet again missing a foul shot at the end of the game

They deserve to lose

Give credit to Minnesota

even if RU wins a game either vs Northwestern or in Big 10 tourney, this loss will dog Rutgers

some major major reflection needed here

also I am sick and tired of how this team gets protected from criticism constantly

THEY ARE NOT IMMUNE TO CRITICISM

STOP BABYING THEM

EDIT...CERTAIN PLAYERS HAVE BEEN SCREWING UP

AND ITS LIKE WE CANNOT TALK ABOUT THESE THINGS

I have nothing to say but they just may have pissed their entire season away

I'm numb right now.

As soon as McConnell missed that FT, I looked at my wife and said "we're gonna lose on a last second three". I wasn't even mad that they let them roll the ball up, just shook my head - the way the last minute of gametime had gone, it wasn't even surprising. I was resigned to the loss already at that point.

It's like we'd never seen a back court press before. smh

If RU loses the next 2 games they are toast.Even if they win one the best they got is a play in game.

This team needs to lose about SIX players in offseason...THERE I SAID IT

Pike has loyalty to one particularly player who has been awful. Also he recruited so poorly we have no bench.....plus what is Pike coaching if his end game blows chunks like this
Paul, oscar , hyatt, miller, and dean for sure .

i think we are bound for dayton again no matter what but we are definitely leaving it in the committees hands. Paul is a joke and hyatt and paul on the last sequence playing scared is all you need to know about them

I think "no matter what" is a strong statement.

Say we get pasted by NW at home, then pasted again in the first game of the B1G tournament.

I think that could slip us just to the wrong side of the bubble if other games don't break our way, and we end up in the NIT.

Allowing the clock to not run was a huge error. Caleb was backing up instead of forcing him to pick it up early. Just going at him in appearance would have done that without letting him get behind you.

But it should have never come to that. We have two guys on the floor, guards, who are afraid of the ball come fouling time. Paul and Caleb.

Paul got the ball when we were up 5. Instead of dribbling across the half court line, he stood still waiting for a double to come forcing him to make a dangerous cross court pass that was easily picked off and of course scored for a 3.

Put in Oskar and the freshman. You can't close out games if you are afraid of the line. There were more plays but just a brutal loss. Worst of the Pike era by far.

So angry I am speechless. Team doing a sing along on the bench to Toto really pissed me off. You were not up by 30. You have an NCAA bid to play for and conf tourney seeding and you are having a karaoke night. Just a reflection into their whatever attitude at the end. I NEVER WANT PM ON THE COURT IN A BIG SPOT.

If we lose to NW on Sunday, there's a fair chance we draw Illinois in the 8/9 game in Chicago.

I said earlier that a loss here would be an RU under achievement and from that point on, no one should complain about our
big ten tourney placement or that in the NCAA if we are so fortunate to make

No complaining about that going forward , at least by me

YUP I felt that way too

are you kidding me in a game you havent wont yet we have awful players like Reibers singing to Africa on the bench......his play is terrible but that behavior on the bench seals it for me.

its deserves its own thread

EVERYONE IN THE COUNTRY IS GOING TO HEAR ABOUT HIS GAME INCLUDING THE COMMITTEE

ITS NOT A LOSS TO A 13-17 TEAM. ITS A LOSS TO A 7-20 TEAM THAT LOST 12 IN A ROW

EMBARRASSING FOR THE PROGRAM
I'm getting the sense this is really no bueno.

In fairness - Caleb wasn’t afraid. He was the inbounder - no? He tried to get it to Cam as first option and even quickly passes it off to Cam on one of the earlier fouls because he knows Cam is money from the line. But he didn’t avoid the ball. Unfortunately Paul turned it over every time he touched it.

If you think Mag doesn't do a better job guarding Garcia this game then there is nothing to discuss. Agree to disagree but that doesn't make any sense

you have to look at the last 1minute 20 and just one better decision out of many would have won the game. We had a timeout left on the table and should have used to set the defense on last play. Most heartbreaking loss of the season.

We didn’t need Mag. We had a 10 point lead. Caleb, Cam and Simpson had zero fouls. We should’ve been playing in your face defense. We didn’t need to win a one minute FT shooting contest. We just needed to not lose one by more than 10. Wholly crap. It was fine to send them to the line.

There's no issue with the NCAAs, the seeding will be a 10 or 11 instead of an 8.

Beyond that, enough with the player bashing, we have eyes and can see the deficiency in plain sight. There is no recruiting issue if you have an mobile guard bolted to the bench, when you are being pressed.

It's not Mulcahys fault.....you don't ask Cliff to break a press as a dribbler......and you don't ask a wing player, to be a point guard against pressure. He's not a point guard, but that's on Pike not playing Simpson late or carving out the proper role and development through the season.

Onto Northwestern and I'd still rather have the PSU win on the road. That win still counts folks, don't get bent out of shape about tonight's game.

Derek Simpson, not Caleb McConnell, not Paul Mulcahy is the best option to handle the ball and break pressure.

Take this game or last minute debacle and file it away. The larger question is for RU.

What happens when and if a team brings pressure, whether it's Sunday vs Northwestern or in Chicago or in the NCAAs against whomever??

What is Pikes game plan to attack a press to score....is it merely to get across half court and hope something happens??

Beyond the rest of the season, RU will absolutely need another guard this offseason, with Mulcahy back or not. Simpson, Davis and another legitimate 2-way guard is a must have.

We didn't need Mag in this game to win. Though, having Mag in this game would have yielded better defense at the 4 than we got all game.

Let's be honest, even if we limp into the tournament (which at this point, just save me the money I would spend taking my family to go) this team is going to be a 1 and done anyway. We have played like garbage the entire month. I would say onto football season but that team is a got dam train wreck going no where in 2023.
