Funny how desperation impacts fan respect of rival coaches.
I'm not speaking about you in particular but rather a general sentiment. When Cal left, and when Tubby did as well, fans thought they could be a bit snobbish about the coach. Oats was hated. His style couldn't win. Relies on too many 3's. He perhaps was morally lacking. Fans get desperate enough, they recognize the pure basketball product and look past certain peeves or perceived character issues.
BCG was correct this in the University of Jodie Meeks. It is the University of Lowe. He is all we have.
