I've heard from several sources that it may go up a dollar a gallon over-night.There's ecen a thing on the front yahoo page about it. I at least tried to make it sports related.
there's no way without the gas station getting shut down... that would be highly illegal. oil prices have actually fallen amidst all these hurricanes... i can see a few cents in our area but i think they'll come back down once the refineries open up again.
A coworker has a relative in the gas & oil biz. A large portion of America's refinery capacity has been closed until Ike passes over. If Ike doesn't do major damage, this should be a short term blip. But at least for a "short" while, we'll have gas at $5. EVERYBODY PANIC!
EDIT: FlabLoser's home attendance calculator presented by Texas Instruments may receive a late-breaking update due to this story
Forget $5. I still haven't gotten past panicking over $3.50/gallon yet. It's still at least $1.50 too much. Of course I know how it works. They ramp it way up, let the people ***** for a while, then drop it down to trick people into believing that it's cheap. The sad thing is that it works.</p>
there's a difference between wholesale and retail gas prices, though. it may go up a few cents, but if wholesale prices go that high, the fact is that many gas stations will simply not buy gas at that price and they'll just run out... even if wholesale does go that high, it'll stay there for about a day or two
