The episode was good, yes. But I just can’t get over the NK and the walkers all dying without ever really knowing what they truly wanted. We really know no more about the Night King now than we did years ago. Not only that, not a single Walker fought in the episode. It was all wights. This should have been the final war. The NK is way more interesting than Cersei and her pissing match over the throne. It just doesn’t feel right that the scariest, baddest motherfer who has lived and killed with magic for hundreds of years is killed by a single danger poke from a young girl who just popped her cherry. I’m fine with Arya being the killer but how it was done was ********. Just lazy *** writing and it seems like they just want to wrap this show up in the most vanilla way possible. There were zero twists.

I’ll only be satisfied if we seeing ice slowly start forming back into the NK and the walkers as the heroes are making their way south. The NK and the walkers only for a surprise attack on the remaining living in the finally episode. But since that’s too awesome it won’t happen.
The night king wants to wipe out the human race. It was stated last episode. The lack of White Walker/NK fighting is a legitimate beef to have.

They’re going to have a hard time beating the Lannisters. A beat up dragon and about 30-40 peeps ain’t gonna cut it.

What’s their beef?

They're mad because they take the books too seriously. Some of them have legit nitpicks, but most are too emotionally invested in this to be objective.

- the prophecies are now ruined
- not enough main characters died
- the NK story wrapped without much explanation after 7 seasons of anticipation (I agree with this one)
- plotholes like how did Arya get past the WW, why did the NK expose himself like that when his death is literally the only thing that could defeat his army, battlefield setup, etc.

I read that the Battle of Winterfell was the longest sustained battle scene in tv or movie history.

That's correct. Second longest was the Helm's Deep battle in LOTR at around 40 mins.

The charge with the lit swords was cool and I knew what would happen but what a waste of fighters.

Agree. I understand why they did it because it looked super cool and built the tension, but that's just bad medieval warfare. You wouldn't send your cavalry charging into an unknown and unseen army like that.

You had me until the last paragraph. Too Terminator 2ish.

I want to know why the NK's clothes didn't burn off in the dragon fire.

After the fire cleared, we should have seen a naked blue dude standing there with a smirk.

If Dragonfire didn’t phase the Night King, why did Valyrian steel?
I may be wrong, but isn’t it simply steel forged by dragonfire?

Pretty much so that is a question
The NK walked through dragon fire when he killed Viserion, just as he extinguished the fire set by the Children of the Forest when he killed the Three Eyed Raven.

Best guess is that the fire never actually touched the NK.....

I think The Wire might be a tad better but it’s GOT and Wire at the GOATS.
For only the 3rd time in history I agree with you. Also didn't take you as a GoT fan. It's hard to pick between The Wire and GoT, but like you I'd say the Wire by a smidge. HBO has such quality programming. My tv stays on it for the most part.

As crazy as it sounds, I've never watched the Soprano's. How good is it compared to these two shows? Gonna binge watch it when GoT is over.

They did give us foreshadowing in the first episode of this season when Jon was standing under the tree in the exact spot bran was sitting in and he turns around to see arya then saying "how did you sneak up on me"
Then later Jon: "wheres arya?"
Sansa: "lurking"

I'm guessing we may get in the next episode where bran warged to all make it happen

I'm wondering if he won't make another appearance, or if there isn't a plot twist involved.

Maybe. But I don't think there's enough time left for that. Imo it's going to be a struggle for them to wrap up things as is. I thought the only way that would happen was if alot of main characters died, but that didn't happen at all.

Although its starting to look like everyone's just going to end up paired off: Jon/Dany, Sansa/Tyrion, Arya/gendry, etc etc

His guard was down. Every character was pretty much on his/her death bed and the NK really didn’t have much to worry about at that point. Hell, he caught her mid-air. Arya is probably one of the greatest assassins in Westeros at this point so give her some credit.

Again, what events would showcase the correct amount of difficulty that you are looking for?

She also practiced that move against Brienne of Tarth. It was in her arsenal.

I think the theme was quite obviously that the battle for the throne was petty and meaningless in comparison to the real threat that was coming. Only Melisandre, Stannis, and Jon were smart enough to see it up until almost the very end.
Despite the heroism shown in this battle, our heroes will now all go back to their own self interests and pettiness Maybe this is the lesson?

Sopranos is the GOAT. Put the Wire second.

Also for people that are griping about book verses show, the books are called A Song Of Fire And Ice and the show is called Game Of Thrones. The distinction should be noted when talking about the emphasis of one verses the other.

There has to be something else to it. Otherwise, it was just one helluva red herring.

I watched it again, and the way NK looks at Bran (even a tilt of the head, like talking to my dog) definitely suggests there's more to the story. Maybe the Bran=NK theory will pan out, even if it's just the very last scene showing Bran with cold blue eyes... leaving the rest to our imagination.

BTW, Arya is screaming as she comes flying towards the NK... which doesn't seem like that would be in the Little Girl Ninja Assassin playbook. But, whatever.

How long does it take for the wire to get good? I gave episode one a go...and maybe it was just my expectation of "best show ever" but it didnt leave me yearning for more.

Soo..did arya shift into a walker?

Also..brown, blue, green... Cersei has green eyes.. will she fall to aryA

yep............ but its going to be Arya wearing either Tyr's or Jamie's face. Makes more sense for it to be Jamie's since he would be able to get closer to her .. So Bron's mission to put an arrow into Jamie ........ then Arya takes his face.

Tyrion already told Bron that if anybody asked Bron to kill him that he would pay Bron more not to. Plus Bron likes both Tyrion and Jaime, can’t see him taking less to kill two that he likes in favor of one he doesn’t.

Hmmmm. Do the Faceless Men actually have to rip the dead person's face when you kill them in order to use it later? Night King Arya might be a fun plot twist if they don't. Maybe that blue face just shows up in her bag.

Have actually never watched The Wire but most GOAT lists have The Sopranos up there. I personally think it's hard to beat. I may give the nod to GOT depending on the how it pans out.
