If that's how they end it, sign me up to lead the charge

Read a lot of books. Find one with strong start

Propose a show to HBO .

And then milk the cash off other people's good work.

Well you have to work hard initially. The last 2-3 seasons, go on cruise mode like D&D did.

I’m starting to hope it ends with Ned waking up and telling his wife “Nevermind. I’m not heading south.”

You all ain’t doing ****. You’re gonna watch in wide-eyed wonder, and then you’ll watch the special behind the scenes thing next week too and then you’ll buy the book if that fat *** ever finishes it and you’ll watch the spinoff shows. That’s what you will do.

BS!!!! I’ve never watched a behind the scenes special! Only the wide eyed part.

I'm 100% won't be watching the spin off.

I always bought the books. Not sure what that has anything to do with.

I actually didn't watch episode 4 when it aired. I also did other things before watching episode 5 .

Used to be priority but definitely different now. Also didn't watch the special behind the scene for last couple.

I don’t have hbo and I almost don’t even want to watch the finale just so I won’t contribute to the pirated views. I hope the views legally and illegally are at alltime lows though I know they won’t.

But for real though I have considered not ever seeing the finale just so I can have it end in my mind in a way that halfway salvages the show.

I wish the NK had killed everybody and won. Would have been much better than this ****.

So got some interesting insight from a family friend who is one of the principal writers for the walking dead.

1) writers of good shows make bank. friend makes ~350k/year for what amounts to 10hrs per week of work annualized.

2) writing is done by a consensus committee which always dumbs down plot details to stupid easy to understand. This is driven by subscription and viewership data and trends. That analysis, whether it’s right or wrong, is done by consulting firms like McKinsey

3) controversial endings are better for the over all economics. More people talk about it for longer and the opportunities for ancillary income increases through out licensing and spinning out IP.

This entire tv industry is a damn racket.

I'm sure this is true. Look at any of the interviews with grrm. He keeps talking about how producers made decisions based on Q rating. We know most people are complete idiots. So the Q will reflect that. That's why this show was tailored to the least common denominator rather than continuing it's arc

I'll be surprised if anyone outside the Stark family aren't the one's standing at the end. This story line doesn't exist without them. Without a Stark we don't follow Kings Landing, we don't know about the Wall, the Knight King, the faceless men, Bravos, the Greyjoy's, etc... none of those plots are told without one of the Starks being the reason. The only exception in the series has been the story line of dany, she's the wild card.

Ok. Since it sounds like most of y’all will be disappointed tonight, let’s hear how you would have this episode go down, given what’s already happened this season. I.e, you can change anything.

For me, it wouldn’t be necessarily ‘happy’ for anyone. Jon still would have to kill Dany (she deserves it) and he is made king whether he likes it or not. He would hate it but do it because it’s his duty. Sansa back to Winterfell with Bran to freeze their asses off for the rest of their lives. Arya just rides off to wherever. Sam to the Citadel if it’s still standing. Last scene would be Greyworm and his crew marching off somewhere and Drogon lands in front of him, snarling and whatnot. Worm reaches out to touch him and the dragon allows it. Last shot is Greyworm looking back at Kings Landing.

Oh and Bran would look to the future and see an 80 year old Tyrion having a heart attack with a bunch of big-boobed hoes around him.

Anything, apparently, would have been better than what they did. It’s truly amazing how good the show was for years considering how awful the final season has been.

I think it's a kind of emperor's new clothes thing...or that "Royal Nonesuch" play from Huck Finn...

I’ve posted critiques, but my only real complaint was the weak deaths of the Night King and Ceresi. Both of the “final bosses” went out with a whimper.

I do feel like the story was rushed, but that’s hard to complain about because who knows how many factors are in play on that decision. They could’ve made an entire season out of everything that happened after the Night King died.

I was being very sarcastic. People like to complain.

I’ve never read a book, and I think it’s been awesome and explained why/what has happened the way it did.

Has anyone else thought about Gendry's claim to the throne now that Dany made him a Baratheon? I've never really bought into the theory that the Targ's are the only one's with claim to the throne. They were defeated and lost it.
