1. Offense was dismal.
a. Play calling bad
b. Offensive line really sucks. I mean, could any of these guys start for any of our state's JUCO schools?
c. Running back trips over himself during sure long touchdown run.
d. Shapen is a good QB. With this OL, we will never know how good he could have been. The offense (mainly the OL) is not built for Shapen unfortunately.

2. Defense was good enough. Just can't keep it up with no offense
3. Special teams ok. Punting real good. Extra point snap embarrassing.

We are still light years ahead of last season!
Hail State!!

We are better, but lost our best player and are 0-forever against the SEC.

This is the first game under Lebby where I saw some Quit in the team.

Dude better win a SEC game in a hurry
Ain't happening this season sadly after these injuries.

Baseball scrimmages are happening soon and basketball might win a few fun games

Time to follow your second favorite football team this season and get outdoors and forget about State football again

Kamario is getting paid over a half of million dollars this year, and we can’t try to mix it up with with some read option and play action. In stead our offense is common place generic and abysmal tonight, while Kamario stands on the sideline making bank lol

I think we are really banged up and don’t have the depth to overcome that against good teams at this stage. A&M isn’t going to win the national title but they’re a Top 15 team that will be in the Playoff mix.

Losing this game, not really a huge deal in my eyes. I don’t know many folks that had us winning this. Us coming out of it more banged up with the Fluff injury, that really sucks. We’ve got a nice stable of backs but they are gonna really have to step up the rest of the year now.

Need this bye in the worst way. And then the following three games kinda tell the tale of our season. You’ve got what will likely be a 2-4 Florida team coming in to the game, a Texas team who may have 3 losses coming in, and Arkansas who has already fired their coach. Can you find a way to to win two of those, or one at a minimum? If so, I think it does a lot for fan interest and hope the rest of the year, and maybe moving forward too. If we lose all three, that’s gonna be really tough.

Since Vandy no longer sux @$$, somebody has to occupy the Vandy slot.

Clark Lea won multiple SEC games in his second season.

I hope Lebby does the same if we are holding ourselves to the Vandy standard.

I didn’t see that. I saw a lot of being outmanned & a defense that finally wore down some late. But I didn’t see quit.
That was the most frustrating part watching that game. aTm just had better players at many more positions than we did. Period.

Lebby and crew aren't perfect but they coach these guys up and are getting the most out of them. Problem is we are way behind in our talent level relative to most sec teams.. and these injuries just compound that problem.

if we had all our guys back and healthy from Texas, Ark, Mizz and OM... I did like our chances to win two of those. However without Whitson, Reese or Isaac and now Fluff.... I don't know.

These coaches and some players are being paid large sums of money to win football games and not play close losses. Period! That’s what they are paid to do. Second year rebuild, players hurt, not enough players, Lebby walked into a disaster, excuse after excuse. Either win or get out of there period! 0-10 in SEC in two years is not getting it done!

Win two of those and this season will have been a wild success. I’d actually feel like we had a decent chance without all our injuries. We’re rarely going to have a year where losing two OL won’t make a huge difference for us. We really couldn’t afford that this year.

I'd trade A&M's players and coaches for ours except for a couple of running backs, one of whom is now likely out for the season. That's what we're facing for the rest of the year: teams that have more talent and more experienced head coaches except for maybe Arky (we'll see what Petrino can muster). Doesn't mean we can't win a couple of games. We can if we play well, limit mistakes, get a few breaks and the o-line suddenly gets a little better. Look at what Florida did to Texas's o-line of top-flight recruits.

OL would let him get injured.

Money doesn't make someone stronger, faster or more athletic. We are getting the same players we always have.

Money may make the Mississippi State football HC job more attractive but State doesn't have enough money to pay double market price to land an Urban Meyer or similar.

So you get what you get, left over recruits and the only coaches willing to take the job are a young OC and a position coach to be your DC.

But with all that said, I'm talking relative to top 10 teams.

He was hired to compete in the SEC - personnel/players are what he's paid to get here and manage. That includes risky plays that get running backs smoked. Those plays rarely turn into much. I'm so glad Woody Marks made it to the pros because he took a lot of open field hits for State.

I do find it interesting that some are taking last night as a referendum that we are going 4-8.

I’m not saying that’s out of the question. But also we play one team the rest of the season ranked higher than A&M currently is. And it’s the Egg Bowl at home.

My suggestion would be to try to not overreact to one loss that everyone expected to be a loss. Even if lopsided. We’ve had better teams than this one go on the road and get demolished worse than we did yesterday.

We’ve gotta get healthier or have guys show progression. But we still very much have a realistic path to bowl eligibility for the time being.

Keep seeing people say playcalling was bad but you have to consider how that OL affects play calling

That’s 2 bad snaps in 2 games. One of which arguably cost us a win.
the bad snaps from our long snapper are inexcusable. that is more than likely his only job, and he should be beyond perfect at it, and with today's protective rules for the snapper, a mistake in execution should simply not happen

Clark Lea and Vandy sucked for three years until he hired Tim Beck to be offensive coordinator last year. Give Lea credit for making the change and hire needed to give his underdog team a better chance. Becks offense is something like what we should have commited to here st State. It’s a run first spread option scheme.

Anybody with any sense knew we were going to get handled last night. Hell, the spread was over two TDs. We got no depth in too many places still and some guys aren't getting it done too. We need more players especially on our lines.
