For anyone that knows how this hire went down, Pope was Mitch's #1 all along. He made a half hearted effort to Hurley to appease people. Then went silent for hours and emerged with Pope as the hire.
I hope this works out because Pope seems like an awesome guy, but that is how it went down. Pearl didn't even get a glance. Oats was thought unavailable for reasons other than the domestic situation.
Mitch went rogue and hired his guy. Still, we absolutely need this to work.

Not even true. How many zero or one pass throw ups have we had? Or dribble it up, get a screen and throw it up. A lot.
He thought Drew would take it, because he had courted him for years. His wife turned it down. He panic hired. Hopefully it works out. Not looking good.
No clue why we were favored in this game. Michigan State is a better version of Georgetown, who did absolutely anything they wanted.

Pope is about to feel what it is like to have a massive fan base turn against him. Heck any average fan/coach could tell you we have defensive issues. Last year we were hurt, there is no excuses this year.

Well this is completely awful and embarrassing. A complete repeat of the Louisville game. I have defended Pope pretty hard but there is no defending this effort.
My biggest concern is the body language of Pope. He looks lost , has no answers or any emotion. How can he not be losing his mind on the sideline. The guys will pick up on his body language. I am not a conspiracy theorist but man have the players tuned him out?

Yeah, I was shocked we were favored by 6. Granted, Michigan State has had a hot hand shooting that may regress and let us back in but it was still surprising to me.
