I was all in on Pope, mostly because of my disdain for Cal. I’ll say I’m now in on Pope, but not all in. I can go all the way to out on Pope this season. We’ll see. He’s gotta be better at everything from here on out.
Stoops at least had two seasons of 10 wins and managed to get 2nd in the SEC East twice. Will Pope average fewer than 10 losses during his tenure here? Will he even manage to make it to 2nd in conference?

I feel like we’re in BCG’s second season. It really feels like it. We all coped with Tubby finally being gone that we never saw the forest for the trees that Gillespie was an utter disaster. Pope managed to one-up him by making the Sweet 16 his first year, but getting blown out by f-ing Tennessee a team you beat twice hurt a lot more than losing to the Fighting Tom Creans in the first round with BCG.

My fear is that mine and many fans' knee-jerk reaction upon Mitch quickly hiring Pope was the right one. I thought we hit gold after the Duke game last year, but this level of preparation and coaching from a franchise guy who has yet to prove himself is unsettling. I am rooting like hell that he finds a way to turn it around, but I won't hesitate to support cutting bait if he can't.
