Pope’s roster last year was built out of the bargain bin of the transfer bin due to him being hired late. He beat far more ranked teams than he had any reason to beat.
As for this year, our starting PG is out and our supposed best player (JQ) hasn’t suited up yet, forcing us to rely on bigs who are either under-performing (BG and the Euro guy) or the true FR (Moreno, who has been our best big). Yes, we’ve under-performed, but acting like Pope is a failure and needs to be let go because one this year is idiotic. And trying to use his record last year as a reason to fire him shows how freaking ignorant you truly are.
Be mad about bad performances (tonight absolutely warrants that), but making grand proclamations about how Pope should be fired because of this season and his lack of “winning” last season shows you are either a troll or simply an idiot.
You know, JQ's agent may just put a lid on him to protect his draft stock. I didn't even consider that before tonight.
I don’t want to see Garrison in anything but deep foul trouble or mop up minutes the rest of the year. Moreno is so clearly better than him it’s a joke. Play Williams and let Diabate come off the bench. And tell Oweh if his effort doesn’t change he’s next.
It’s definitely not what I wanted, but damn… People can say it’s early too, but what we’re watching / was watching isn’t just tonight. They aren’t athletic enough to compete with top tier teams. I’ll be the first to eat crow if they miraculously turn it around

I’ll repeat. You are clearly cool with being mediocre. If that’s your goal, congrats, you have your guy.
If Pope can’t show improvement over last year how can you trust him to improve the next year? What if he doesn’t land a single top tier recruit who would be an immediate success? Are we going to rely on the portal where he has whiffed on virtually every one of his top choices?
If he’s regressing his second year with a significantly higher budget, you have every reason to panic. Boosters won‘t accept this. That NIL can quickly drop if Pope is not giving results and how will he be able to put together a team with disinterested boosters?

He’s had one full recruiting class. And none of us knows if he’s pushing for a lot of “elite” HS recruits or trying to piece together teams that fit his system better (blame Cal for thinking any top-15 recruit is the right person to go after). But elite recruits didn’t do much for us the last half-decade of Cal, so not sure why you’re hung up on that.
Which is crazy considering his ties to John Lucas II. However, he can be a very effective PG on offense. Especially if hes able to shoot the ball better with better players around him. Hard to show that when you have a bum shoulder
I can accept the UL loss if we learn from it. We don't seem to have learned anything.
I keep hearing rumors about something that happened before the UL game. Did someone put a voodoo curse on the team Brady Bunch style?
