What kind of predictions do the folks in SWVA have on this one? I'm hearing GC is down, but showed some life last week. Curious to see how they compete against Bluefield.

Bluefield by 21. Gate City is down and play what I believe is the hardest schedule in AA hands down. But outside of Reed, Bluefield doesn't have a lot to write home about. A solid team for sure, but not the same caliber Bluefield teams of the past decade.

Agree with Ryan on this one. Gate City has some good players and athletes, but nobody that can deal with the speed of Reed, but not many do. Reed can absolutely fly. He gets in the open field, by by.
Gate City is young and will be back, but will have some growing pains in the mean time.
Bluefield by at least 17.

I guess I'm the only one but I don't see how this game is close. Bluefield is no worse than they were last year and I don't think GC is as good as they were last year...and the game was played at GC, we all know how that goes. Bluefield has won the last three meetings by the scores 63-21, 61-7, 51-28...an average of 58-19 for those wondering. People talk about Bluefield's speed but they've found a power running game in the last two weeks that is a great compliment to Reed and Collier...really hard to handle both inside and outside...

I'll be shocked if GC keeps it within 4 TDs...

I wouldnt think so but you never know. Richlands destroyed two teams that Bluefield had to win in the final minutes. Graham and Gate City. If Bluefield doesnt have a passing game i dont see it being too close.

I was thinking the same thing but you never know how teams matchup so I figured I had better ask some of you fellas from down that way.

I'd love to catch a game at Bluefield sometime, particularly a big game.

As a Richlands fan and former player I can tell you that no matter how good or not Bluefield seems to be, they always worry me. They always have speed in abundance and athletes everywhere and are well coached, so they are always scary.
One missed assignment or tackle and it's off to the races.
But I do like our chances this year, I think the Blues have the athletes to be able to beat a good Bluefield team, but the game is at Bluefield and it's always tough to beat them there. Bluefield will be looking for some payback for their loss to the Blues last year also.
It should be a fun and exciting game to watch. Speed on both teams and playmakers everywhere. Should be a BIG crowd and great atmosphere for this game.

The only game bigger than this one at Bluefield is the Graham/Bluefield game. So come on down and watch Bluefield/Richlands. The Beavers will likely be the top team in the state in their class by that point, and Richlands is a top 5 team in AA. So it should be a good game.

Key for Richlands is to stop the run. Reed and Collier are great athletes. But, no team (except Union) has rushed for more than 50 yards against the Blues. If we can contain the run, I think Richlands wins by 2 TDs.

Bluefield is #3 in WV AA right now and will likely move up to #2 if they beat WV AAA Greenbrier East (2-2) this week.

Like you Ryan, I also thought I saw where they were #2 in WVA AA, are there different WVA poles out there, or did we just miss read it ?

Is Richlands/Bluefield still a go? I have this feeling I am going to make the trip only to find that it has been postponed.

Are there any places you would recommend to grab a bite to eat nearby? Preferably a hometown/family business, if available.

This game won't be canceled. Both teams play on turf. Mitchell Stadium can drain 3" of rain an hour. Don't look for this game to be moved.
