Gator Bowl Fan proportion

What's your take on the fan proportion at the Gator Bowl. I know we sold quite a few tickets and Meechigan reportedly struggled to sell theirs. Their school is claiming there are so many alumni all over that most Meechigan fans bought their tickets through other sources (as did I and I'm assuming many other bulldogs.)

So, are the stands really going to look 50/50 Maroon and Yellow? I say far more bulldogs, and far less U Mich fans than they are hoping for.

with all of the tickets for sale by State fans now.....I think we will be about 1/4 to 1/3 of the stadium. I don't see us painting the stadium in maroon as much as we thought we might. Hopefully I am wrong.

so many fans sold tickets after buying them? I have been surprised by the number of tickets for sale.

I think that Stans basketball team has depressed the fan base and it is bleeding over to football.

Not sure if that is the reason but it may be diluting the happiness of the fan base a little. I think a lot of folks got excited right after beating OM and did a lot of impulse buying thinking that a ton of their friends and family would be eager for a bowl trip. 4 weeks have no passed and the adrenaline has died down from the season. It really is a shame we didn't get Atlanta as I think we would have had 50-60% of the attendance, maybe even close to 70%......much like we did in Memphis.

Just glancing through stubhub, it looks like there are a fair amount of tickets for sale on the State side. What you said may very well be a common story. Plus, I think alot of people just assumed it was cheap to get to Jacksonville. Once they checked how much it costs to fly that time of year, I'm sure many panicked, backed out, and are deciding not to make the drive.

However, if my group is any indicator, we should be in good shape. I pre-ordered 13 tickets and only one of those had to back out - and that ticket has already found a home. We are flying/driving from all over the Southeast and Texas.

Regardless of what happens, we pre-sold a ton of tickets. Hopefully that gives us the reputation of a traveling fan base even if more than a few have decided to back out...

We have only ourselves to blame if we don't pack the Gator Bowl. It is not like we are playing on the other side of the planet with the way I have heard some State fans talking.

When people realized university sections were endzone, they secured better tickets through alternate sources.

That's my theory.

Yeah, you can't see yardage placements as well, but if you are high enough, you can see the plays develop very well.

I've never understood some people's views of what is a good seat and what isn't. Honestly, I'd rather have a seat in the half way or higher up in an endzone than I would 10 rows from the bottom on the 50 yard line. I weight how high or low a seat is much more than whether or not a seat is simply between the 40s. What good does a 50 yard line ticket do if you aren't high enough to see a play develop?

Jacksonville is much farther. I actually am flying now whereas I would have been driving to Atlanta. The choice of Driving for 10-12 hours (one way) or paying for a plane ticket was just too much for some.

That said, only a few of my friends (ages 25-30) backed out... but I would bet that it is a lot more common for other age groups.

As far as I know, the game being in Jacksonville did not bring in any fans that were not going when we thought we were going to Atlanta.

I could have easily gone to Atlanta, stayed with a buddy, and really done the bowl game on the cheap.

I also could have driven up on game day and driven home the next morning. That cuts down on babysitters for the kids and is a hell of a lot cheaper than getting to Jacksonville, the price of a hotel for a few nights, and getting back home.

I hate that I cannot go but it is just not in the budget for this year.

Eh... Most State fans were told all tickets were sold out and could no longer be purchased through MSU..... (As was a fam member of mine) However the next week when they got all the tickets that were given back from the original allotments returns most MSU fans had already gotten their tickets on Stub Hub from sponsers that wanted to sell their tickets. State is a partner with stubhub so when we couldnt sell the tickets through the AD we put them on there. I think we will have anywhere from 22000 to 24000.

That's what I did and I know several others did. <div>

</div><div>I scored a couple on the 40 on the M state side that are leaps and bounds better than the tickets though the school. </div>

My ideal seat is anywhere above a V shape with the bottom of the V being a quarter way up on the 50 and the sides of the V rising up to the top of each endzone.

you don't have anyone in the Gator Bowl committee to announce the crowd numbers to closely match your prediction !!

I know of 4 people not going because it's too expensive for them. Not sure if they were bringing friends or not. They had a place to stay in Atlanta so their only expense was tickets and entertainment.

It's costing me about $1100 more than Atlanta would've.
