He’s a great kid, but poor placement, lots of overthrows. Hope he gets it together

its hard to improve accuracy very much. If you are a 44% passer last year you will not be 60% this year. You are either accurate or not and Wimsatt is NOT! So many high throws.

I been saying over and over that GW throws high - the further the pass the loftier.
But he can show some nice touch
Usually young QBs want to rocket passes and they have to learn the touch.
Gavin doesn't pass with a lot of mustard but that could come
I had a HS QB who was good but not great
After a couple years in college you could hear passes coming they were so hot
He ended up in pros

It must have been Simon that got us the 4 wins, I just couldn't read the name on the jersey.

He hasn't done anything we're undefeated at home but we lost two road games including to the #2 in America so he must be just terrible.

SMH this board

You know the Nova haters would have begged for a player of that caliber the last few years, and now everyone is back to whine about a kid who has done everything expected thus far

Not saying Wimsatt is awful but he's one of the main reasons we lost that game. The pick 6 is inexcusable.

Stop with strong arm. Throwing far without accuracy means zero.
Huh? A strong arm and accuracy are 2 different things. They can exist concurrently. With Gavin they do not. I was answering the poster who asked what his strengths are BTW.

Of course at the granular level that is correct. That was a bad play. I don't know, maybe it's me but I don't expect a perfect game every game. Maybe Alabama does. If you want to pin that on him it's more than fair but the people saying he sucks are throwing a tantrum. One game doesn't define the season.

That's all I'm saying. And he can throw it far but all his long TDs have been result a great run after the pass. Those are not daily things for him. He isn't "the guy"

Hey has made some nice throws for sure but let’s be honest the RUNNING GAME got us those wins primarily. He has made critical overthrows many times… still. Today.. many poor throws… too low… behind…too high…He has improved for sure but even announcers keep saying “you gotta make that throw”, etc.

How about we get him some real WR besides a True Freshman, a Transfer from D2, an undersized slot man and a converted QB who might be the most overhyped player on the roster. We still have zero playmakers and when we play anyone good, we cant run the ball. The OLine needs to get so much better. Need to be able to run the ball, especially in the Big Ten

The thing is Wimsatts job hasn't been to throw for 300 yards and run for 100. His job has been to not make mistakes. He failed at his job today and itay have costed them the game.

Please stop! The pick 6 wasn't a wide receiver problem. Nor were the 3 long passes in the first half!

no one is going to argue that Gav is a great passer, no one. I tried to tell people all week our stats were very misleading. We even had Mel and other yahoo trying to tell people who aren't hs coaches they know nothing and tried to talk him. Our fans are so desperate for a winner, they think the sky is green when it's blue

I'd try shepperd next week to shake things up

we are not beating Mich St and 50/50 on IU

I read that often but actually Tom Savage was highest at #8 QB and 131st nationally
Wimsatt was 10th with no national placement

Gav was rated as a athlete qb, not a passer

the highest qb we ever had I think was McMahon

I am far from a Gavin apologist but anyone who doesnt see improvement isnt watching. Yeah he needs to get more accurate and yeah, he made a big mistake today but hes a 19 yr old who basically has played 1 full season of college FB between last year and this year. Still lots of upside. Still very good dual threat, runs read option well and will improve. After Michigan everyone was praising him. He needs some weapons and we need a more balanced offense against good teams.

His targets don't seem to have much in the way of separation.
He is still pretty young and hopefully will get better.
Time to move on sorry. We need two wins. The defense was great but too many 3 and outs.

Who said it was a WR problem? Funny everyone wants to look at one play. He made a bad throw. It happens. But really overall hes stayed away from that this year.

So you think he has good Wide Receivers?

In this new era football we don’t need to wait anymore for guys who might develop. Go get an experienced quality QB. If Gavin beats him out, great.
