I’m with you, but if I’m being honest about me & my family’s situation, I’d have to answer “Yes”. Moved back in Feb. 2005 from ATL with Net Worth (I get it; there’s more to this than one metric) that was 1/6 of what we have now.
Work smarter, make good decisions and I’d still argue that it’s a place of tremendous opportunity. We didn’t flip houses, or inherit money and I’m not a tech millionaire who developed an App & sold it for bank.
Tried to “grow where I planted myself”. Sometimes when everyone else is running away, staying put or running toward the fray can be advantageous.

The California pay scale helped me many years back when a company over there expanded to Charleston SC and they basically hired me at the pay scale they use for people living there so I made out compared to the going local rate.

At Davos, even the globalists rolled out the red carpet for the one man they claim to hate - President Trump. Why? Because when real money, real power, and real consequences are being discussed, Trump matters.
Newsom didn’t.
His speech getting cancelled wasn’t a coincidence. It was a message. This isn’t Sacramento. This isn’t a press conference with friendly reporters. This is the global stage, where clarity beats nonsense every time.
While Trump’s people - Lutnik, Bessent, and others - were speaking plainly about markets, leverage, and America’s position in the world, Newsom was nowhere to be found. No room for word salad. No patience for performative politics.
That tells you everything you need to know.
You don’t have to like Trump. Plenty of them don’t. But they respect power. And Trump has it. Enough that even his enemies adjust their tone when he enters the room.
Newsom’s entire act only works in a controlled environment. Take away the script, the applause, and the spin, and there’s nothing left.
This wasn’t about California politics.
This was about who actually matters on the global stage.
