Sorry of Germans but another massive piece back. I cannot wait for baseball season.

Trying not to get ahead of things. New coach, new players, etc. but we have a chance to have a really good season next year.Lets go!!!! We are going to be STACKED next year!
No but I think he and Sullivan were hoping for pro baseball opportunities that never came to fruition, so they opted to return. He was in the transfer portal?
Did we ever get confirmation Sully was returning? Would love to have his bat back.No but I think he and Sullivan were hoping for pro baseball opportunities that never came to fruition, so they opted to return.
Coach Oak was asked about Sully and Frei yesterday in an interview with Sportstalk Mississippi and he confirmed both would be back.Did we ever get confirmation Sully was returning? Would love to have his bat back.
Curious how the position battles will play out next season cause that outfield is getting crowded. Good problem to have
Aidan Teel
James Nunnallee
Vytas Valincius
Gehrig Frei
Bryce Chance
Jacob Parker
Of course one of these could DH but you've got whoever doesn't play 1B as an option there as well - Bevis, Stallman, or Sullivan (assuming he comes back)

Wonder if the plan is for Sullivan to pitch more, or TBD?
Folks worry way too much about the defense in my opinion. A good coach will get hitters in the lineup. Once you get beyond your top 2 hitters you can probably lean a little into defense if needed, to not have holes. But if you're looking at the 80/20 rule like that, I'd rather have a whole lineup of decent hitters, which means your top 2 guys are likely elite.Sully is back and I'd be shocked if he isn't the DH. Competition for the corner outfield spots is going to be a war.
1B - Stallman/Bevis
2B - Woodson/Sanders
SS - Wyers
3B - Ace
C - Milewski
CF - Teel
DH - Sullivan
Corner outfielders: Valincius, Parker, Nunnallee, Chance, Frei, Jones

I want that freshman pitcher back. The black guy that threw absolute gas. That is the guy I want back in addition to all these guys.
going to be nice to see the bottom 3rd of the order not tank every time, and then the 9 hole hitter not lead the nation in strike outsFeels like we are going to score a lot of runs next year

Mikhai Grant? I believe he fired and wasted his only bullet to be on an MSU baseball team.
I see what you did thereMikhai Grant? I believe he fired and wasted his only bullet to be on an MSU baseball team.
Not sure if serious. Neither one was drafted. Definitely not against some added publicity bumps, but that’s really all this is. They’ve both been guaranteed to be back for months. No but I think he and Sullivan were hoping for pro baseball opportunities that never came to fruition, so they opted to return.

Yeah, NO he's not going to pitch except except maybe in mop up mid week even then it won't be often.Wonder if the plan is for Sullivan to pitch more, or TBD?

We should be somewhere around a preseason Top 5 team. We will have to work out some pitching roles but should have plenty of talent to choose from. And on paper it looks like one of our most loaded offensive teams ever. The last couple of years under Lemonis made me think we couldn't compete with the big boys in the SEC. We could be good but not CWS good. Now I think we're back. I hope I'm right.

Impressive when you spell it out like that. The worst batting average on that list is .265, and the same guy hit 11 homers so not like he had a bad year.Feels like we are going to score a lot of runs next year

I noticed that as well. Feels like we may have a “hole-free” lineup for the first time in a long time.Impressive when you spell it out like that. The worst batting average on that list is .265, and the same guy hit 11 homers so not like he had a bad year.
The signing bonuses for 20th round picks that were 22 years old ranged from $5,000 to $150,000, with most ranging from $5,000 to $50,000. The few that were at that $150,000 were all pitchers.I am under the impression that they might have signed an undrafted free agent deal if a good ofree presented itself. You see it sometimes with guys who are older like those two. Think they’ll both be around 23 or 24 when playing for us next season.
We can always compete with the big boys in baseball. The only thing that has ever held us back is our own laziness & stupidity (Polk II and post 2021 Lemonis). The last couple of years under Lemonis made me think we couldn't compete with the big boys in the SEC. We could be good but not CWS good. Now I think we're back. I hope I'm right.

Long story short, they were never going get a FA offer for more than probably $25k or so. In the NIL era, it’s pretty easy for us to beat out whatever they would get from a FA deal. And SEC competition is also a lot better than Low A ball….so if there is any concern about losing a year of development in the minors then that goes away from that (unless they were pitchers). But the predominant fact is that they are likely not MLB material….and that’s why they are back. The transfer portal was always a much bigger threat than MLB.
What was the personal issue he left the team for? It's got to be severe as it looks like he didn't get picked up out of the portal.Mikhai Grant? I believe he fired and wasted his only bullet to be on an MSU baseball team.
Yeah. At some point if you want to chase the dream you need to turn pro. You’re not wrong but in this era where guys have been able to stay in school forever, you occasionally run into older guys who just decide they are done playing college baseball and you have to fight it occasionally. We’ve had guys forego senior years because they weren’t pro prospects and got accepted in med school, for instance. Not quite the NIL era but I believe Houston Harding passed on his final year for an UDFA offer.
Also, not sure how much NIL we actually are giving Frei and Sully. You can argue we didn’t really need them so I wouldn’t be surprised if we aren’t giving them all that much.
No idea. But some guys are just not right mentally and will never get right. What was the personal issue he left the team for? It's got to be severe as it looks like he didn't get picked up out of the portal.
Still crazy to not get picked up, dude threw mid 90's.No idea. But some guys are just not right mentally and will never get right.
