They still didn't belong (since it's based on what you've actually done to date, not your "potential")...just as if Kansas goes out and wins it all, the committee wasn't incorrect to give them a 7 seed. But they certainly are good enough to make a run.
I'm just not seeing your Kansas love. That they've done as well as they have this year is a testament to Bill Self's coaching. I think they're more an early knockout victim than they are to a team poised to go any meaningful distance in the tourney.

defenders lost their responsibilities and ran in to each other. Man on the ball was not much of a presence to affect the pass either. If you arent going to be 'big' on the ball, you need to drop him back as a safety to help in the middle

I immediately thought of football. “Knock it down!” They didn’t and paid the price.

Sorry, the "they" I was talking about was North Carolina. I was just saying that Carolina has a talented squad, but underperformed all season (and Kansas was the first example I had in my head of a similar team). But what they do in the tournament really shouldn't validate their selection, since these are new data points and the committee's principles and procedures are based on what you've done to date, not who they think the most talented team might be moving forward.

Kansas is an enigma to me. I kept waiting for them to turn it on all season, but they never did...they have a lot of talent, but hard to expect them to suddenly flip the switch after what they've demonstrated the past 4 months.

I agree entirely that the subsequent success/failure should not have any impact on whether or not it was correct to include a team in the first place.

That said, we live in a very reactionary, irrational world, so it's going to happen often.

Saint Francis got lucky with Alabama State missing two free throws with the score tied and less than ten seconds remaining. Saint Francis just choked their last possession away; I try not to use this word but in this situation none other suffices. Dang, a hard hard loss for Saint Francis.

My next coaching match...Minnesota should definitely be looking at Nico Medved (and I'm sure they will). Minnesota grad, spent a year coaching there under Monson early in his career, and is ready to jump to a big job (he just keeps winning everywhere he goes). Colorado St might be my favorite team to watch over the past month or two.
Hopefully they pay me the finder’s fee.

I like this hire…seems like a pretty obvious match.

Joining Hartford as a school that reached the NCAA tournament, then announced after it the move out of Division 1. We used to have to add the (NY) or (PA) after St Francis to differentiate between the two, but now neither of them will be in D1.

Kevin Willard. Just has to get knocked out of the Tournament first.
Yes was reading that this morning. Sounds like he might stay at MD if they give him what he is asking for in upgrades to the hoop program. Pitino still 2nd choice for 'Nova I would assume if Willard doesn't work out.

"White Magic" returns to his Philly playground roots. Earned his nickname while still at LaSalle High.
Yeah, McCaffrey had a catchy nickname. He was good but his college career showed his limitations. He did his best, now coaching at his alma mater. I’ve always liked him, or was able to tolerate him. Most of the B1G MBB coaches are pretty good guys, you’d trust your kids with them.

Worst kept secret in college basketball. He's not that great of a coach anyway and hopefully it'll make Villanova continue to suffer.

UC San Diego coach took the New Mexico job which could be rebuilding territory since their best player bolted to UCLA.

I remember going to a Nike clinic years ago. Buzz spoke for an hour on how he became buddies with MJ. Sit for an hour trying to get stuff on transition defense and your sucking Jordan’s a**
In my old age I have become softer towards Maryland and this seems to be a knee-jerk hire. There have to be a dozen others who would be a better choice than Buzz Williams.

Buzz Williams to Maryland. Meh.
After what Buzz did to D.J. Newbill, I'll always root against him...part of what made the win over A&M so sweet in the NCAAs a few years ago. Also means that I doubt Maryland will be pulling many Philly players in the coming years (which could be good for us, as they've nabbed a few).
