The Mayflower remains one of the best seafood places I've ever been to. They don't screw up a fresh piece of fish with a bunch of "dressing it up." They just cook it great with a damn good sauce. And their soft shell is probably my favorite dish anywhere. That or the fresh speckled trout.

However, agreeing with what you say is AJ's. Just never had a seafood dish there that I thought was that great. It's definitely not bad or anything, but I don't think they come close to living up to their reputation. The tres leche cake is fantastic, though, and almost makes up for the ****** service.

The Mayflower rocks, just went a couple weeks ago before the Dumpstapunk and had the grilled redfish with crab meat. It is consistently good and you can bring in your own bottle of wine or bourbon.

Walkers has the Redfish Ana that is to die for. Nicks has several good options too, then there is Bill's Greek Tavern(also BYOB).

I like to keep it local...

and yes, it is better than Bonefish.

But like I said, Bonefish is my favorite chain. I don't expect chains to be as good as a local restaurant.

While the topic of places to eat in FL is going around....If you even go to the state of FL and do not go to Uncle Ernie's in Panama City, you are missing out on the best food in the panhandle! Plus the have two bars, one upstairs on the deck overlooking the bay and the other downstairs inside the restaurant....Get the crabcakes app, get whatever you want as an entree (doesn't matter what) and order the Key Lime Pie for dessert....Compared to Uncle Ernie's, Margaritaville, Back Porch, Guy Harvey's, they are all bland! Trust me!
