NU should hire Rhule's agent as University president, chancellor and athletic director, all rolled into one.I still have no idea how he became an NFL head coach. Then again, there’s always an even bigger idiot of a billionaire to throw money around.

I disagree. 50-60 should be when you peak in your profession. Combination of experience/life lessons from your own mistakes/learning from others. If the person has a curious personality, their 50s are the best they have to offer. Which means we are doomed with Rhule…You know, it is possible (probable) he has slipped a bunch since then. Age has a way of doing that. He is right in that sweet spot of an age where you ain't what you used to be all of the sudden. Or so I've heard
I think he’s far too comfortable at NU, especially with the extension. He basically taunted the press yesterday after the loss mentioning it.You know, it is possible (probable) he has slipped a bunch since then. Age has a way of doing that. As I am sure most of us have realized, people that do the hiring are usually morons.I still have no idea how he became an NFL head coach. Then again, there’s always an even bigger idiot of a billionaire to throw money around.
Yeah, maybe, that might be a little old but I get what you are saying.I disagree. 50-60 should be when you peak in your profession. This is so true....he's lost the fanbase. Doesn't matter what he says at this point. Now... we wait for the end. Will it be the long goodbye, or does he experience an undisclosed "health issue" and just walk away to "spend more time with family..."
I love when you mention something specific that applies to the field, and the HR recruiter has no idea what you're talking about and just thinks you're making stuff up.As I am sure most of us have realized, people that do the hiring are usually morons.
My favorite, people that work in HR!
Wait, so you are NOT an engineer but you will decide who makes it through to the next rounds of interviews to see who will be hired to be an engineer? But, why?
Hahaha!I love when you mention something specific that applies to the field, and the HR recruiter has no idea what you're talking about and just thinks you're making stuff up.

That would mean God doesn’t hate Nebraska football anymore. I’ll pray every day that he chooses to go spend time with family. Please, please let it happen....he's lost the fanbase. Doesn't matter what he says at this point. Now... we wait for the end. Totally agree. Spend less on an up and comer from a great coach. Try Cignetti’s Offensive or D coordinator. I guarantee they’ve learned how to do it right. Funnel whatever else we can to buying a roster. If the BIG donors would stop going after retreads and go some of the young star coaches maybe Nebraska would have a chance. You don't need to spend 50-100 million on a coach to win, there are a lot of young coaches who can do a great job at Nebraska. But those big donors want a big name splash they don't want a young up and coming no name, they want that retread, yuck!
Nebraska is a conservative and reactive place. We don't like change and only want change when the status quo is awful. We only want something new if it is connected to something old that we liked...ie...Scott Frost. And then when that thing fails we want something different...like somebody old and seasoned, and then when that failed we want the thing that we didn't want before. Solich--> Cally> Bo-->Reilly--> Frost-->Rhule are all reactive hires where the current hire was made in relationship to the past hire...that should never happen. Hire the most talented people possible no matter what they change or shakeup is something that never happens at NU. Might be a farm culture thing, or a farming mindset, as change risks the yield and up until recently risk and change meant starvation. If the BIG donors would stop going after retreads and go some of the young star coaches maybe Nebraska would have a chance. Nope. Dannen will get fired and then new AD will fire Rhule...he's lost the fanbase. Doesn't matter what he says at this point. Now... we wait for the end. Will it be the long goodbye, or does he experience an undisclosed "health issue" and just walk away to "spend more time with family..."
Time to boycott games90% of husker fans agreed an extension of him was not worthy. It happened anyway.
There is a lot of truth to that.If the BIG donors would stop going after retreads and go some of the young star coaches maybe Nebraska would have a chance. Not sure I'd use Iowa as an example after that Friday debacle. This is so true.
I don't want to end up like iowa fans where they pretend like their coach will "get it all figured out" in year 30.
If you want to end up like iowa, keep rooting for that, because most NU fans don't want that. Not sure I'd use Iowa as an example after that Friday debacle.
Either HCMR is in over his head or fans have unrealistic expectations.
That is a real factor when you are making money with your body. Much less so when making money with your mind.Yeah, except your energy levels plummet compared to your 40s...but you have tens of millions of dollars so you don't really give a **** anymore. Or so I've heard
I pretty much have. From 1998 to 2012 I attended almost every single home game. Then it went to about half of the games the last decade. The last few years I always tried to catch at least one game. This year I would not have gone if it would not been for free tickets and my son wanting to make a game.Time to boycott games
Add the cost of a soda and slice of pizza at games today is ridiculous. Two sodas and two slices of pizza was $30 at the game. My God. Typically I would have boughten additional food items such as popcorn. With the prices I told my son he had two choices pizza or the popcorn. It's not that I can't afford it it's just I'm not going to be robbed multiple times.Spot on. That is the way it will play out. The wretched state of the football program and the new ticket policies, both are great reasons to fire Dannen today. The extension is also in play. I am trying to find something he has done that makes sense.
I agree that the the next hire is a response to the prior hire. Hire someone not like the guy before instead of the best possible option. Truthfully, other than Riley, none of them were bad hires at the time. Some of them were just kept longer than they should have been. I think also we have to accept that firing a coach that just had back-to-back winning seasons after a decade of losing seasons is going to make this job look even less inviting to potential hires. Rhule also entered with a completely bare cupboard unlike Pelini and Solich. Frost and Riley were unmitigated disasters leading up to Rhule. Frost should have been fired after year three but wasn't because of his Nebraska ties. Even then, it took another Nebraska legacy AD to do it.Nebraska is a conservative and reactive place.
