LSU runs the ball 70% of the time. That's our strength on D. After watching LSU Saturday night - Jennings and the deep ball doesn't worry me as much.

This is it. 22 out of 24.

I agree. Lsu not having their usual great d'line helps us too. I expect dak to run it a ton. Glad we have a bye to get ready for aTm bc I think dak will be sore

If we commit to stop the run most teams will not be able to move it well on us.

If we shut down LSU's run game we have a chance and I would say we have a chance against just about anyone we play.

It's definitely do or die time. If Mullen is ever going to make a run at the SEC title, this is the year. Yeah, the SECW is as tough as it's ever been but it gets harder every year and we're not going to make any huge leaps anytime soon... unless we take care of things this year.

We have the talent. Hell, we even have the coaching ability (Mullen is about as brilliant and self-defeating as Tommy Tuberville). If we want a top 25 ranking (we'd probably jump straight into the top 15 if we won this weekend) and want Dak on the Heisman radar, we have to win at LSU on Saturday night. I don't think Dak puts up huge numbers, but he's going to make some kind of highlight play.

Just remember, when we play LSU, hope for the best but expect the worst. Always helps keep the disappointment level down. And with LSU I don't really look at matchups because some of our best teams during this streak has played some of their worst and still gotten beat soundly.

My only fear is that when we would play LSU back in the JWS years - they would always have some new running back that would have a breakout game against us. So with that being said, Fournette will probably run for 250.

I hope you're right but I feel the exact opposite...

I think LSU leads by two touchdowns early, we make a small come back to pull to within three or four sometime during the third quarter but then LSU scores late to seal a double-digit win.

But I'd love to be wrong.

I hope you are right but i think you are very wrong. IF we are able to pull out a win it will be by a very small margin (3) and with our kicking specialist i think we can all agree fg's are going to be very hard to come by.

Our shittiest team under Mullen, in his first year, is the closest we've come to beating the corndogs since the meltdown of 2000. I'd be very confident against them if we weren't playing at night in their backyard.

Though that team had the worst record of Mullen's tenure, that 09 team would have won more than it lost against 2012 and 2013.

Shittiest team by record maybe, but that team was better than 2013 and probably 2012. That 2009 schedule was one of the hardest strength of schedules that any team in the country has had in the last decade

This won't be a popular opinion

here during woolfest 2K XIV, but we can still have a good season and lose to LSU (badly). We can also have a bad season and lose to LSU. Every damn year this is the "forget it, kid; it's Chinatown." game. Remember this when people are losing their damn minds and posting a link to the newly created "Mullen's buyout kickstarter" site midway through the 3rd quarter Saturday.

(and as always, PLEASE feel free to prove me wrong this weekend, guys)

Superb use of Chinatown reference. "Forget it, Jack, it's Baton Rouge."

Ha Ha! DS be smoking Wackie tabackie....

However, I agree. This is about the best year we've had in a long time.

I'm hoping for 24 hour diarrhea to hit LSU about Friday night and be "running" hot and heavy all day Saturday.

We're not beating LSU. History is not on our side, and not getting my hopes up until the trend is changed.

On a different note. The fire Dan crowd will be back. I just wonder who the new savior will be.

History says
- MSU can't beat OM 3 in a row.
- MSU can't beat OM 4 of 5.
- MSU can't win in the Swamp.
- MSU can't beat Georgia anywhere.
- MSU can't win in the state of Arkansas.
- MSU can't win the SEC opener.
just among the ones that are already erased and I'm sure there are more that I'm forgetting. If you don't get your hopes up until the trend is changed -- chances are that you've already missed the lightning in the bottle. Mullen can kill our last 2 big remaining blemishes on Saturday night in DV.

While I'm certainly not the biggest believer in Mullen -- I'm a pretty big believer in Dak, JRob, and our D. My biggest fear is that we see a repeat of Jordan Hare last year with us getting a lead and taking our foot off the gas. I'm excited and trying to figure out how I'm going to make it down there this weekend to see it.

Of all weeks, we NEED to have it for this one. We need some sort of Stallion jinx. This is the year.

I like most of your analogies there, but we are 2-13 in our last 15 SEC season openers, and 14-38-2 since 1960. So that one is bad.

2-13 and 14-38-2 different from 1-14 and 13-41?

We had lost 12 SEC openers in a row when we beat Au in 2012, so it was a pretty extended "bad streak" IMO
