ask him if my criticism forced him to take an introspective look at how he was doing things.**

send my regards. all joking aside, he did a good job turning things around. i was worried to say the least, but he has earned my confidence....for whatever that is worth, which is not much.

Did he learn his lesson in the Aub game

that the dreaded prevent defense is an open invitation to the opposing offense to go ahead and win the damn game?

Not to be picky... but the prevent defense didn't cost us the game so much as all the 3 and outs (with the catalyst being penalties) we had at midfield throughout the entire second half. There's no way Auburn should have even been in a position to win at that point in the game. But either way, I'm not sold on the "prevent defense sucks" bandwagon... because Vandy lost to OM because they WEREN'T in a "prevent defense..." they played too aggressive and one play beat them instead of forcing OM to drive the field.

I'm still waiting on someone to address our image vs A&M's. I realize they busted out some new jerseys, but we don't know if that's one game or not.

Would be nice to hear roughly who he thinks will start at DB.

It still

blows my mind that people attribute some (or all) of our losses last year to defense. I guess I was just watching something completely different.

Am I crazy or didn't we also shank a field goal a few minutes prior to that as well? Maybe it was earlier in the game, but I just remember thinking that it would have been a world of difference if our defense had known that they needed to get in the end zone in order to win. Since we were only up by 3, it was like our LBs and secondary couldn't make up their minds whether to defend the middle or play deep.

What is the most important position in your defense?

Whats the best plan against these hurry up offenses?

How much film do you watch in the offseason? How much is us and how much is opponents? Or random teams where you try to pick up on something?

His Mayhem Mantra, Now that he has an experienced defense can we expect to see

him bring more pressure this year?

after the LSU 2nd half debacle, it was a different defense. Aub was early in the season. The offense converted a 4th down on our own side of the field in that game. A better placekicker and a defense that is not playing prevent at the end...wins that game.

It seemed like he had a significant amount of additional success from day 1 against the hurry up/spread teams last year in comparison to how they shredded us in 2012 with more upperclassmen. I'd like to know specifically what nuanced changes were made to allow us to be more successful? What specifically does he see as the key to "stopping" the hurry up? Is it using hybrid defenses/defenders as the key to "confusing" the hurry up spread? Seems that way with all the tweeners we had constantly bumping into multiple positions during individual series...

Outside of really 2-3 huge busted/luck plays, we shut Auburn's *** down. I remember the Cox busted coverage for a TD early and Marshall's 3rd down 40+ yard accidental pass to himself specifically. Look at Tre Mason's statlines for the year...

I hate to quote myself, well, no I don't.

We held Auburn to 120 yards rushing on 36 carries, for 3.3 ypc. No one else held them under 210.
Their longest run was 15 yards. Against LSU it was 17. The next shortest was 28.
We averaged 8 yards per pass and 5 yards per run.
Auburn turned it over three times. We didn't turn it over at all.
We had the ball for 34:23 to Auburn's 25:37. Of course HUNH accounts for some of this.
While Auburn was only flagged once, we only committed five penalties for 33 yards.
We were 2-2 on fourth downs, yet didn't go for it on fourth and 2 with 2 minutes left.

Yet we lost....

....because we stupidly went for two early on.
....because after Marshall fumbled a snap we let Quan Bray get loose for a long TD.
....because Marshall completed a pass to himself for 37 yards to set up a FG.
....because we played soft with two minutes left.
....because Bell missed a FG.
....because Jameon dropped a pass.
....because we can't take advantage of breaks against a lot of team, but Auburn in particular.

The LSU game was the exception

,rather than the rule, of our D. Our D (overall) played solid all year. To suggests otherwise is crazy.
