It's about a 30 minute hike to get to this geographic point.

It's the geodesic Tri-State marker for the KY-TN-VA border. The trail is a winding, uphill 1.2 mile hike from Cumberland Gap.

Sorry residents of Tennessee can leave their state here and land with both feet in 2 good states!

I was just there last summer.

I've thought the same. It ain't easy to get to. Don't know that anyone lives there anymore. Was one of the few KY cotton growing areas. Is there any grown in KY anymore?
We went a couple years ago just to say we've been. Once was fine.

Nice to meet you 92, Muhlenberg Co. here
Thank you cordmaker, nice to meet you here on the forum as well. I am in Hodgenville. A couple of landmarks here with the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace, and downtown a statue with Abe Lincoln.

Another easy one. Which county? And what runs through that gap?
Is it Hickman Co.?
Mississippi river is in that gap. It is the only place in the country where you have to go through another state to get from one part to another part. I know there is that Michigan piece, But 1) there is a bridge connecting them, and 2) you can float across, in either case staying in Michigan. But in the above, if you float across the river I think you in Missouri.
It is due to the ever changing path of the river, where in that part of the state KY's borders are defined by the parallel and being on the eastern side of the river.

We use to be booming here, TVA, coal mines and Everly Brothers concert. Mines are just about all shut down, coal fired TVs demolished and no longer have the Everly concerts. We do have an Everly Brothers plaza with statues of Don, Phil and John Prine! It draws lots of visitors.

Some good people from Muhlenberg. Some UK Basketball greats with Patrick Sparks and Roger Newman. The Everly Brothers and good ol Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane. I'll have to check out the Everly Brothers plaza next time I am in Muhlenberg.

I will definitely have to make a visit there soon. I had no idea they had a NASCAR museum there. I do remember the old Brewco Motorsports Busch Series team that Jamie McMurray drove in and the Green Brothers from Owensboro.

They have some nice cars in there, I'm sorry I misled you, it's a Motorsports museum, didn't mean to. Also if you have kids, make a trip to Lake Malone and hike the Big Twigs, our grandchildren loved them!!! Eat at Stellians home of the 8lb pizza and freak shakes!!!

Big Twigs
I appreciate you letting me know about that. It definitely interests me. My brother in TN worked with a guy at AT&T that used to be a pit crew member on the Brewco Motorsports team when they were still operating. That crew member lives in Central City. I've been looking for a place not to far like Lake Malone to get away for a bit and enjoy the outdoors. LBL is a little too far when trying to make a day trip without being in the car too long.

This bridge is about 20 yards from the monument I posted above. The bridge closed down sometime in the mid 90’s.

Live in Central City, installed some black and white tile in their showroom while they were still there at Brewco.
