What a jackass. I am surprised as well that this hasnt happened a lot already. People simply can't understand that having a social media connection is not a license to contact someone you don't know. I wonder how he got the kid's phone number.

I'm sure every coach, AD, and compliance officer has been terrified this would happen to them. I predict a lot of idiot boosters are going to get banned from buying tickets in the next few years.

I'm the opposite of that fan

I almost run away from recruits whenever I do see them- which is rare- because I DON'T want to be involved with anything.

That happens when your alma mater gets dinged for giving Doug Buckles 20 bucks to eat.

I agree that the best thing to do is run away, but at the same time what mechanisms are in place to keep this from happening. At the end of the day, this was neither a secondary violation and the callers real name wasn't released. Whats to say many Bears, for example, from saying "hey you get reprimanded and kicked off a website, that you can simply create a new user for, but I think I have something that will help flip Kailo Moo?re and its worth the risk to contact him because the NCAA nor anybody else can touch me.

As bad as it sounds, there is no punishment from the NCAA or school for doing this. I would never consider doing this because I think its really freaky and putting your priorities in life in the wrong place, but I can certainly see that sense there is no deterrent in doing this, how people may feel justified to do it.

I think UGA just got a little lucky it wasn't a secondary violation. It appears the fan wasn't a booster since he'd never given any money to UGA, didn't graduate from there and had never bought tickets. I think if he'd ever done any of those things, it would have been a violation. I think we're going to see a major problem with boosters contacting recruits directly in the next 5 years. And I really don't know how the schools or the NCAA are going to be able to police it.
