Tigers start off in a hole. The trip to Athens next week might be a bit tougher than we thought originally.

according to warrennolan.com, who also rates their schedule as the nation's toughest thus far.

they played a three game series at Stetson- a pretty good mid major baseball team, they've played UCLA and USC on the road, a three game series against Florida State, a three game series against a decent Baylor team, and a non-conference game against Alabama in Gwinett. They also have Clemson and Georgia Tech on the schedule.

It's a brutal schedule- they're better than their record indicates, but they definately overscheduled. They're better than Kentucky and Tennessee, but they'll end up with a worse record.

They're starting three sophomores and two true freshmen in the field, and their Friday and Saturday starters are true freshmen.

I think a lot of people ranked them highly simply because of how much talent they have, but apparently they're not as game-ready as you might think.

to win in the SEC with a bunch of freshmen. I know someone will probably bring up Florida last year, but that is an anomoly. They have a very, very special group of players there and that's the only way to pull off being successful with freshmen in the SEC.

And as much as I have ripped the JUCO guys, it's good that we have them in the sense that they at least have SEC experience to allow our freshmen to adjust, and at the same time, the freshmen have been performing a good bit of the time, which has caused the JUCO guys to step their game up.

I hate 7 inning games. I remember we've had some good teams drop a pair of 7 inning games in the past to teams that we'd otherwise be favored against. It's hard to judge them because it takes the strain off your bullpen. You let one pitcher get hot then it's lights out pretty much. It's an even playing field though and both teams have their chances. The Tigers have Ole Miss coming in next week so the Rebs better get set to enter a hornet's nest. Also, Auburn's got Vandy next week so they better get thier **** in order real quick.

I'm sure in two years the Tigers will be beating the **** out of teams with reckless abandon, but they've got to take their lumps this year and maybe a little bit next year.

Is if Paul Manieri were to be a candidate for the Southern Cal job.

I think most of their fans want George Horton at Oregon or Jack Savage from UCLA (USC alum). I would go after sixpack favorite Brian O'Conner, Kevin O'Sullivan at Florida or Tim Corbin myself.

They might end up with Dave Serrano at Cal State- Fullerton.

I know that they are looking to make a big time hire, though. If Manieri is getting sick of the flack from LSU fans, and the price is right- you never know. Not expecting it to happen, though.
