Your books outweigh his experience.

Especially if you read it in the Huffington Post. Phil Robertson must be a liar. He has a history of sinning. The blacks in his town must really hate him. The black ministers in town must really not like him either. Phil must be a backward, ignorant redneck who doesn't know anything about the 50s and 60s that I read in my books either.**************************************************

Hypocrite? Ok. Well, I can only base my understanding of him off of what he has said [which has been well documented]. In terms of his understanding of race relations, circa mid-1960's, what do you believe? Do you really think that he was privy to a special group of black people who never experienced racism or bigotry while living in the deep south? I guess he's just that lucky, eh?

What is your infatuation with the Huff Post?

I imagine you get all your info from Glenn, Rush, and Sean; I certainly try to base all of my political, social, and moral ideals off the opinions of college drop-outs****

Obsession by Huff Post. Is it what you douse yourself in each morning?

I read probably 4 Huff Post articles a week and thats only because they appear on my phone's constantly updating info feed.

No, I didnt get my info from Huffington. I got it from whatever the hell outlet he gave the interview to- GQ? Esquire? It was a couple months ago at this point, I dont remember which.

I am not calling Robertson a liar.

My best guess is that he had a very ignorant perspective on life as a kid and didnt see what was happening behind the curtain. Everything looked fine on the surface and he was too young/ignorant to think or see deeper.
Perspective is a hell of a thing.

I thought the house I grew up in was massive as a kid. I used to throw a ball onto the roof for it to roll down so I could catch it and I thought my throws were huge.
I went back there a couple years ago and the first thing I noticed was the gutter was only 20' off the ground.

Perspective and depth of insight at the time.

Not at all. So, you don't know the answer either? I could care less about Duck Dynasty. I just find it hilarious that people choose to use them as role models when they are clearly selling themselves for every dollar they can make.

By the way, I am pretty sure they fit the definition of greed... "intense and selfish desire for something, esp. wealth, power, or food." Even if only in the definition of how they value their duck calls.

It reminds me of the show Gold Rush on Discovery. You have that fat guy that runs the grew from Oregon. He is always talking about how God is the focus for them and that God is going to show them how to be rich. Yet, rather than working hard and getting a lot of money, he keeps looking for the enormous payday. I just don't recall any of that from my Christian upbringing. God was always discussed as providing 'enough'. But, to each his own.

Does it get lonely up there on that mountaintop?

Religious books aside, there is no okay way to lump homosexuals in with all matter of criminals because "sin." That's what he did, and that's why some people see him differently now.

You can drop the hardon for Huntington Post. It's one of several incredibly liberal publications with a history of pointed articles. All I did was read the direct quotes.

So basically everybody that asks for a raise beyond the bare necessities is greedy? If not, what exactly is the permissible amount of money to make without being greedy?

Just read the GQ article

All of it. Then judge him. He never says he doesn't like gay people or is better than gay people. He lumps himself I with all sinners. Everyone calm down. Other media sources who didn't get an interview with them were just trying to sensationalize it it for hits on their website. They got ya.

One person's greed is usually accompanied by another's envy.

Just as one is supposed to use what he has to help others, you're not supposed to judge another based on what they do with their wealth. There are good rich people, bad rich people, and middle of the road rich people. Just as there are bad poor people, good poor people, and middle of the road poor people. We all have our flaws of greed and envy, and most of us has some good traits as well. I don't begrudge them their millions and have no concern what they do with it. Only point I was trying to make is that it blows my mind that something that corny and stupid is on everything from bowl games to board games now. And yes, I realize I don't have to watch or buy the stuff, and I don't, I'm just curious if this phenomenon is going to implode upon itself or is one of those guys going to run for governor and win with 90% of the vote.

Yeah

how ridiculous that someone look up to hard working, self-made people that are so selfish that they want to not only provide a good life for their family, but their family's families...as well as complete strangers. All the while, doing so without being a drain on society and committing crimes.

For the record, I don't watch the show, but I can tell that they've made all of their money from their own work and aren't thug criminals. Of course, I could be mistaken. They may have cheated and robbed their way to where they're at.

I wish it was still like season 1

It has become way more contrived now. I blame A&E for scripting it too much. I think most people would rather just watch them hunt and fish and shoot guns. It was funnier that way. I'm sure it is a beat down for "normal people" to all of a sudden be filmed everyday. I doubt they run out of things to do, but run out of things to do that they want to be filmed doing.

I work for a canadian company. Nearly all of my collegue's in Toronto watch it religiously. So it's popularity is not limited to the US.

I believe they are church of christ which explains much. I would say that denomination is the most intensive interpretation of scripture with no grey area. Like here are the rules, and you must follow them if you want to go to heaven. I think that is why phil's comments were taken like they were. They were very pointed, but that is their church mantra. I would say there is less forgiveness in Church of Christ than others based on my understanding of it.

I don't know how they handle wealth, but most of them have very public professions of problems on I am second. They seem very open with their failures. Willie has two adopted children of different races. I think Jase has one or two as well. They appear very generous, but I have no idea.

My favorite episode was the one where they build a pond in the loading dock. That was long ago.

Phil admits to being quite the criminal earlier in his life... lying, cheating, drinking... according to him, that is. Thank God for him, he wasn't gay!!!

Yeah,

well it's obvious he grew up and learned from his mistakes. Now he's trying to teach people how to avoid making those mistakes, it seems. I'm not real sure about what being gay has to do with this, though, so I can't speak to that.

Well, he did say that gays "invent ways of doing evil", which to me, speaks directly to his state of mind, as well as his overall intelligence.

Way off base. If they are seeking wealth just for themselves that is one thing. If, as it appears, they are looking to use it for the good of others, then they should be held up as role models. You may not mean it this way, but the post comes across as bitter, jealous and grasping a reason to dislike them. If I were into assumptions, I would assume there is some anti-Christian bias built in, but I honestly have no idea.
