What does everyone think of 6'6", 280lb Kip Green? He has already got D1 size.
6'6 big strong country boy from Giles County. Sounds like a Big 10 recruit to me.What does everyone think of 6'6", 280lb Kip Green? He has already got D1 size.
Michigan has a good track record with VA players. Ohio State has gotten VA's best with Jalen Holmes and Curtis Grant (Herm). Then you have to throw in Penn State.. and Wisconsin!!! Oh yeah... I'll speculate and say that Pope will go Big 10 tooIt will be interesting to see how or if he dominates this season. Which Big 10 team? The Cornhuskers was the first thing that popped into my mind. Maybe Michigan?
Huge UNC fan i've heard. BTW: My money says UNC gets a slap on the wrist and not much moreUNC or VT IMHO.......Heels may lead at this time. If it was Basketball which kid likes. It would be Heels. Of course UNC is possibly getting hammered by NCAA(which they should). So VT is in pic. Get that Big 10 stuff off the board. ACC or possibly SEC
Spoke to a rival coach of Giles earlier this off-season and he raved about Green. Thinks he's the best young linemen in that area. Believes he'll be a big-time recruit by the time of his senior year.
Seen a bit of film and he's shown some flashes. I think he'll start to put it together by end of this year.
I was thinking, maybe Dinwiddie should send the recruitment team out to talk with him.
Free use of a lakefront home on Lake Chesdin, a car of his choice, concert tickets, all of the food he can eat, (prepared for him by a chef), occasional use of the recruitment teams private jet, guaranteed 4.34 or higher GPA, attendance at school is voluntary, and $5000 per week spending money.
I know this is a minimalistic offer, but Mike hasn't sent the Salem team yet, so we are trying to get him for a steal.
All kidding aside, I'm happy for this young man. God gave him a superior body. It will be enjoyable watching him learn how to use it.
VaBlueDevil33, I won't get out your way this year, but next summer, if life will allow, I plan to make a big old loop through SWV. I would love to cross paths with you just to say hi. I enjoy people that have fun and don't take life so seriously.
I heard full-back Chapman didn't come out this year. May be looking for a short yardage power backI heard they were going to use him in the running game some.
Got him playing tight end on offense this year. I know Giles doesn't throw much, but he'll be a load to bring down if they get the ball to him some.

We aren't throwing...he is playing TE to block period
Having seen Giles many times, it doesn't matter if Giles has Odell Beckham at WR or Jason Whitten as TE, "they ain't throwin"! When all is said and done, keep your eyes on Green at not Offensive/Tight End, but at Defensive Tackle. This is where he will end up playing Division one ball, on the defensive side. He's huge for a sophomore, but he is not so lean as in....tight end 240-260 lb lean, he's going to end up by the end of his senior year at about 6-7, 290-300lbs. Remember, he is only a sophomore. Look for Giles to move him inside on defense (down tackle) next year (not this year with their juniors and seniors on the roster) but next year in 2018, when the kid is a junior and about 290 lbs, look for him to be playing down tackle on defense. He's still a sophomore and it's hard to tell how a big sophomore will go in the next 2-3 years. Will he lose all his baby fat and be 260 lbs of lean muscle, or will he bulk up a bit more and be 300 lbs, 6-7 as a senior? Either way, he's athletic enough in that it doesn't matter. He's Div 1 bound. I say by the end of next year in 2018, he's recruited at the end of his junior year/prior to his senior year as a top 100 player, definitely a 4 star, and not a Tight End, not a Defensive End, but a defensive tackle (a position he will not play one down at this season at Giles).
I believe a few years back Giles had a big tight end, I believe his last name was Rhodes. I recall them throwing to him quite a bit. Now I know Giles is not going to air it out a lot, but a big target like that in passing situations is still a weapon opponents will have to look for and respectHaving seen Giles many times, it doesn't matter if Giles has Odell Beckham at WR or Jason Whitten as TE, "they ain't throwin"! Well you don't know what you are talking about here
He will play some DT this year I promise you that...depending on what defense we are in
And if we had Beckham jr or Whitten I can guarantee you we would throw the ball....problem is even though we have had some great HS players we have never had an OBJ or Witten

Ok, relax tool. Of course you would throw it with Beckham and Whitten, that was something call hyperbole. For the ignorant, this means....just making the general point that Giles doesn't not throw it much. Now before you respond simply in order to disagree, understand a single wing offense is more of a run oriented offense than the old wishbone of the 70's and 80's. Sure, Giles will throw the ball some, but by in large, it's not a passing program, period. Fact and stats prove that. If we were to go back to the year of 1990 and take every AA or Class 2 team in the state of Va in the last 26 years, you and I both know Giles would be in the bottom 25% of these teams in pass attempts. That's the point I was making (and you know that, you were simply disagreeing in order to disagree.)
As for him playing DT this year. Wise choice for Giles coaching staff. He needs to be there every play, directly over the ball blowing up the line of scrimmage and making the offense start from 5 yards deep in the backfield. I will repeat this also, he is no Div 1/FBS TE, PERIOD. He is 280 lbs 6-4 or 6-5ish as a sophomore. This means, he is 300 lbs as a senior. 300 pounders don't play tight end in college, but let me be clear for you tool, since you love the "literal." By in large, the overwhelming percentage of tight ends in college football at the Div 1/FBS level are not 300lbs. <----just want to make it clear so you don't have to search for the 1 or 2 300lbs tight enders across the country in order to disagree.
A target and this kid is a target....is definitely a weapon opponents have to look for in passing situations, but you hit it on the head with Giles......."in passing situations." That usually and overwhelmingly most of the time means.....3rd and long, not on 1st and 10. This is why you here very little of "a kid that Giles throw to a lot and can really catch it" over the years. You are not even sure of the kid they threw it to "some" a few years ago which means......and proves my point......."they ain't throwin it." But for the one literal tool, let me be clear so he is not so quick to disagree. "Giles does not throw the ball nearly as much as most other AA schools in Virginia." I have to spell it out. I'm sure, he may respond arguing Giles is the next Oregon in pass offense. Lastly, Giles has had several great teams and great athletes over the years that can run and catch it, but because it's largely a run oriented offense, we haven't heard much of their great receivers not because....they have not had the guys to throw to, but because as I eluded to earlier...."they ain't throwin it" or ain't throwin it much. A program doesn't magically have skilled offensive lineman and incredible running backs over a long, long time, but incredibly come up short in the area of luck at not having the athletes to catch the ball. It doesn't work that way. The law of averages does not support that. Giles CHOOSES not to throw it much.
You are the tool...I played there and know what the offense is and maybe you should coach giles since you have all the answers
And how many state titles have you won as a coach?
We choose not to throw it simply because over the last 25 yrs or so WE HAVENT HAD TO THROW IT PERIOD
You are a complete dumbass and I'm done with you...go ahead and write another book about what giles should and shouldn't do and who should play where...I will print it off and give it to our coach...I'm sure he would love your help dumbass
Some people are such idiots and love the attention...not mentioning any names...now on to the topic of the giles sophomore with posters that don't think, they know everything about everything
I've read this entire post again and I don't see anywhere anybody is suggesting in anyway that Green may play tight-end at the next level. Simply posted he will be playing tight-end this season for Giles on offense. I think Giles was young on the offensive line last year and most starters are returning. Small schools in this area have most good players playing both ways. Green is too much of a talent to not be playing on offense. I've got no control over play calling, so I don't know if the coaching staff plan to use him much as a receiver in that position, or as we all figure, just a big blocking force in the run game. And BTW, I know of 2 Giles players that went on to start as wide receivers in college, "Dakota Schrader, and new Martinsville head coach, Nathan Tanner" . Just sayin.

Don't waste your time buddy...I don't even know who his team is and frankly don't care either..I'm sure he will write another 10,000 word useless reply lol
Not about who my team is. You see, again, an irrelevant point to the conversation. I repeat and get you back on track, Giles doesn't throw it much. Green will be a defensive lineman in college. Do you disagree tool or do you need to ask your coach if the above is true before replying, lol?
