Any of you folks on strike? If so I hope you get what you deserve. Y’all made huge sacrifices when GM went bankrupt to help them get back on their feet and should get some of those lost benefits back!!
I worked union for years before I changed career paths. Enjoyed the frequent raises and job security. Didn’t feel a bit sorry for management and filing grievances against them when they’d try to dick us over was always a good time.
Next time you want to diss unions, remeber who got you the 40 hour, 5-day work week with paid time off. If not for unions, we might still be working 80 hours a week for a couple bucks a day to spend at the company store.
I hope the GM workers get all their demands met.
We taxpayers made money off the bailout with the interest corps had to pay.I feel like every tax paying citizen made a huge sacrifice when GM went bankrupt

They need to stop GM & other companies from jacking prices on SUVs & trucks to subsidize their electric cars as no one will buy those golf carts at the prices they cost to make a profit on them directly. Dems are out to screw you over on that and the automakers are happy to join with them.
As for the "mindless" work, those jobs have been automated. Most automotive assembly people are doing several tasks and are doing quality control at the same time.Unions for skilled trades? Absolutely! Unions for mindless factory work? NOPE!!!
Wait, so you get paid 125k a year for this?
MIndless? How so?Unions for skilled trades? Absolutely! Unions for mindless factory work? NOPE!!!
Dunno, but they compared it to the other auto makers which was interesting.$63/hour, on average, including benefits.
What are those benefits and how is their value determined?
Why not just tell what they actually make without including benefits?

Based on this stellar and highly virtuous logic Toyotas should be exploding left and right.I’m perfectly fine with the guys wanting more pay if it means they’ll be happier and do a better job and my car won’t explode and kill my entire family while I’m driving it. Why are we against this?

The opposite is actually more likely in a competitive cause/effect world. If you make a product and your main cost component is higher than your competition it will likely cause you to try to make it up in other areas (materials, recall replacement offerings, etc).

Labor cost 10-15% of a vehicle
TMMK?Some of us make close to $30 an hour. Many of the newer workers make $15 and are temporary workers. Hard to say no one is buying their cars when they have been having their highest profits in history lately.
