Folks who never watch SB halftime shows, so they can run tell us how awful they heard it was:

just once in my lifetime i'd like to see metallica perform the halftime at a superbowl.
HELL YEAH!!! Would literally be the most watched halftime show EVER. The NFL would totally redeem itself from all of its nefarious ways if they had METALLICA play the halftime show. You could literally watch a mans beard grow watching a Metallica halftime show, and the increased birthrate in November of 2026 would even be tied back to a METALLICA halftime show.

In my eyes, the only way the NFL ever redeems itself is to have a METALLICA halftime show

When they had the conference call to pick the halftime act, the commissioner must have accidentally pressed "2" ***

Seriously, the halftime performer doesn't matter to me. I'm usually busy getting dinner at halftime anyway.

Were y'all expecting they'd follow Kendrick Lamar up with Morgan Wallens?

It’s always weird to watch so many people get upset about something “they don’t even watch”.

couldn’t name a bad bunny song but I’m guessing the league the generated almost $22 billion in revenue last year knows what it’s doing
I just saw that Jay-Z has a contract and apparently decides who the act is for the SB halftime show these days. If that's true, the question isn't really whether the NFL knows what it's doing. It's, "Does Jay-Z know what he's doing?"

And I am guessing he 100% does. He knows exactly what he's doing with this choice.

A few things with this
1.) The halftime show is not to get any of us to watch the Super Bowl. We're watching football regardless of any halftime show
2.) This makes perfect sense for the NFL to target a demo that would never normally watch the game to now tune in and in theory boost ratings
3.) He really surprised me with his performance in Happy Gilmore 2. Was he great? No. But he was much better than I expected.
He was a really pleasant surprise in HG2. I mean, no one's winning any Oscars from that movie, but he was unexpectedly good in that role. I'll also give him some recognition for being one of the few celebrity WWE guys that actually did a few high risk spots during his run.

All that said, I agree with others that it's a somewhat odd choice for a SB halftime show, but I also get that half time isn't for people like me.

From the Forbes article I posted:

Latinos are the fastest-growing fanbase for the NFL. Viewership among both English and Spanish speaking fans is up 11%. Broadcasts of NFL games in Spanish have spiked 34% in comparison to recent years. And the NFL has been cultivating a global fan base, as part of its plans for global expansion for years. The plan includes playing seven games in countries Europe and South America, and and expanding to play a game in Australia during the 2026 season.

Record breaking artist Bad Bunny has fans all around the world. He’s kicking off the rest of his global tour after his ground-breaking 31-show residency in Puerto Rico that pumped more than $4 million into the islands economy. His last show in Puerto Rico was streamed live on Amazon Music and broke records for live streaming viewership. In 2022, his album was the first all-Spanish album to reach number one in the U.S. And in 2024, his music was the third most streamed in the world behind Taylor Swift and The Weeknd

For those of you who want to get a jump on not-watching Bad Bunny, he's also hosting SNL's season opener this Saturday night.

If I've ever heard one of his songs I'm unaware of it. But I know a super-star when I see it and he's sure looking like one.

You misspelled Taylor Swift. I can't believe they didn't capitalize on that.
