God I hate the fumble rule!

But yeah it'd be great to start back at the 40.
The idea that a team can kick a relatively easy FG on their first possession is absurd...though not as absurd as the NFL where it often times ends up an offense never even sees the field.
Either play an entire quarter so both teams have to play both sides of the ball, or set it up like college where each team has a chance to strike.
Baseball isnt played where the first team to score a run in extra innings wins. Hockey is played where both teams have multiple chances to be on offense. Basketball is played where both teams have multiple chances to be on offense.

it's absolutely retarded....fumble at the 1 and you get the ball at the 1, fumble just inside the pylon and it's the other team's ball?
i'd like to see it where you fumble it out the back and they give it to you at like the 5 or the 10 or something...why in the world does the other team get the ball?

You are penalized for getting too close to the goal line. It's almost an oddity. I'd like to see it changed to give the offense the ball on the twenty, first and ten. That's not a great solution, but it beats what we have now. It wouldn't be fair to give the offense the ball at the point of the fumble, but I think it's also unfair to give the ball to a defense that did not recover the football. Anybody have a better idea?
