If it's only Golden left, let's just function without a coach for a year until someone real steps up. We've been doing that anyway.

really and we didn't look like idiots hiring a failed OL coach and didn't recruit or wasn't a good coach but yet was defended to the hilt by some including you shouting many people down. You didn't seem to have a problem with Flood getting 2 stars. I don't want get into an argument but all I am asking you is for consistency in how you analyze a coach.

Different time place and circumstance. I'm willing to take a chance on a coordinator more then I would be with Golden.

Absolutely agree. He had one decent season in five years with the Canes.

In 2014, seven Canes were drafted so you know the team had talent. He finished 6-7.

FSU was selling "Keep Al Golden" shirts in their bookstore this year.

Clemson 58, Miami 0: worst loss in the program's history.

Give me a guy who hasn't had a chance yet over a guy that's coming off blowing his chance. Moglia, one of the OSU coordinators, Babers, Jeff Brohm - someone on the way up, not on the way down.

LOL!!!! I'm serious when I say this. Before Flood was let go I said that I'd rather endure another season of Flood than get Golden. With that said, if Golden is our best option we can re-hire flood because he's still looking for a job.

I was hoping and praying that when BOB left PSU that they'd get Golden, that's how lowly I think of him.

Same here and I am being serious. I wanted to see nothing more than those dopes at PSU hire Golden and fail miserably.

Unlike Schiano, Golden apparently wants the job. That's a plus in my book. GS can sit on his butt in FL and continue to cash Glazer's checks for all I care.

Of course he wants the job.

HE'S UNEMPLOYED!!!!!!!!!!

I'd rather hire Al Bundy!

If this message board is an indicator of the overall fans, Golden certainly won't have a unified fan base behind him on day one on the job. Heck - we could hire any realistic candidate and that would be the case, I know, but Golden seems more polarizing than most.

Great post.

Why would we want to hire a guy that half the fans would want to Fire on Day 1!!!!

SCREW GOLDEN!!

No Golden showers!
No Al Bundy!
No Mr. Notebook!
No Tie Guy!
No Plane Banners!
No "Even my own school (PSU) doesn't want me!"

NO NO NO!!!

Just say NO TO AL GOLDEN!!!!!!

Once again, if you hire Al Golden, you get what you pay for... Then there'll be another argument on who will be the next Rutgers coach three years from now.

He's the best among the most realistic candidates out there . Mullen and tressel aren't coming . Program is too fragile to hire a coordinator guy . Golden is a jersey guy and he can do a good job here .
This from the all-knowing maven OP. I like his sense of humor.... or was he really serious!!!

If Golden is the choice his employment application should include some special questions.

1. An essay question on "Explain the how the moral failings of Joe Paterno, abetted by a cult-like fan base, allowed a once great program to be a haven for a predator. (Personal recollections earn extra points.)"

2. The number of players in the skill groups I coached while at PSU that had to pick up litter around Nittany Stadium for infractions that would merited an arrest in the real world was:
A) Less than 5 B) 5-10 C) 10-20 D) More than 20

His contract should include a clause that says he must publicly burn all PSU logo memorabilia. (He can keep the diploma.)

But seriously I am much more concerned about the amount of NFL talent on his Miami squads that he could not rally to more winning.

As a Hurricane Fan who grew up in Jersey, don't do it!!! He is a good loyal guy who is for lack of a better term "INCOMPETENT." Kids quit on him, because he micro manages the nonsense and he just could not connect with his players. His practices were soft and NFL scouts would leave shaking their heads why these athletes were lousy football players. I would hire Cristobal before him, even with his warts, he can recruit his ____off. Good luck to you guys.

I would pay Norries Wilson 100K just to do all the press conferences. And actually, I'm not convinced he's a terrible running backs coach, despite the fact that I don't think he ever held that job before doing it here.

Why are we considering Golden?
-He went to Creep State (strike 3)
-He's a Jersey guy....me too
-He went to Red Bank Catholic....
-He built Temple into the Temple that it today....uh, ummmm, wellllll, ok...whatever that could possibly mean
-At Miami losing wasn't all his fault...???....poor Flood

Golden doesn't cut it

Has anyone ever thought that Rutgers is as good as it gets for Golden?
Why should Rutgers settle for Golden if they can get someone better? Because he's from Jersey? Hell KC Keeler and Rick Giancola are Jersey guys but no one would choose either.

I hate to sound like a broken record but OH MY GOD DID ANYBODY WHO WANTS AL GOLDEN TO BE OUR HEAD COACH WATCH MIAMI PLAY FOOTBALL THIS YEAR?

Yea, we won 4 out of 5 games after he was fired which tells you something. It bothers us greatly that Dorito is still there in the role of defensive coordinator but after the bowl game he is outta there .... thank goodness!!!

I watched him coach in the playoffs last year. He's a heck of a football coach. Three conference championships in 4 years, 4 playoff appearances, 41-13 record in 4 years. Yeah, why would we want a proven winner? Clearly the guy who got blown out by Clemson and Fired is a much better choice. SMH...
There's always one guy who can screw up a good argument.

golden will lead us to great heights of 9-10 wins in the BIG
All you've preached on this board the last 3 years is that all that matters is W-L and you don't give a rats *** as to how that is accomplished. And then you hold up Al Golden as your choice (lifetime 59-59, 0-3 in bowls).,, which proves that you are full of sh*t or you don't know what you are talking about- probably both.Just shut up and go away.

The current commit list shows us as having 14 3 stars and 1 4 star. I am fairly confident that Golden if hired will never have a class as good as that.

Yes all that matters is wins and losses. I said golden is as good As it gets for Rutgers . Because we aren't hiring nick Saban .
Butch or tressel would be great too , but Rutgers is more likely in the market for a golden type of coach. You don't know what you're talking about.

Anyone advocating for Golden is either a relative of his, clueless, or just stupid.

Which are you?

Find me 1 Miami fan sad to see him go.
Just 1!

For goodness sake, even Flood had people sad to see him go!!

Al Golden is not "as good as it gets" for Rutgers. He was run out of Miami, and the Hurricanes were actually better this year without him. RU could go after a rising mid-major coach like Rhule or Diaco. Or a coordinator like Ash or Aranda. I'd take any of them over Golden. Golden was the DC at UVA for several years, why haven't they reached out to him if he is such a good candidate?

I am not a hypocrite . Just being realistic . All that matters at this level is wins . Everyone knows that

And the best person to make that happen at Rutgers is Al Golden?.... and you're the one being realistic????. Like I said- hypocrite.
