I work in the medical field and am in these types of surgical cases all the time. I def don't have a lot good to say about lumbar fusions for younger or highly active people. I will be shocked if he can compete again.
But his agent claims this fusion was the "best and only" way to play golf again [laughing].

According to Tiger and his people, this should fix his problem once and for all. No more Band-aids. This was a permanent, minimally invasive solution to an injury which had occurred in the best possible location of his spine. His world-renowned surgeon was very pleased with the outcome, and Tiger fully intends to return to competitive golf when fully healed.

Anybody wanna guess what his new excuse will be after his next WD following an opening round 79? [laughing]

Agree. Have back issues and my surgeon told me to avoid this for as long as possible because of my age and active lifestyle which includes Golf but nowhere near the level and amount of play Tiger would be required to do to play on tour again. I think his agent is FOS and is only an attempt to appease Tiger's endorsements including Taylormade and others.

What part of a guy who will be 42 years old, has basically done much of nothing in professional golf the last 3 years, zero majors in almost a decade, and now has a disk fusion procedure done trying to compete against 20-35 year old very talented golfers makes anyone think Tiger will ever compete again? May show up and get appearance fees, but doubt he wins again.

He's done. I remember a long time ago in his first years Johnny Miller said something like he better check his swing up or he will have back problems. I always remembered that. Turned out to be true.

TaylorMade M1/M2, Titleist AP1 AP2...anyone have any thoughts on these clubs? I've hit the AP1's and 2's and for me the AP1's were a better fit for me (more forgiving). However, I haven't hit the TM M1/M2's yet. Just wondering if anyone on here has and what your thoughts were.

I currently have a set of 710 AP2s and absolutely love them. IMO you can't go wrong with the AP1s. Since they're a cavity back they should be more forgiving then the AP2 which is forged. I believe that's always the case with forged and cavity but someone with more knowledge might be able to explain more.

Tried out the the M1, M2, Epic, Titleist, and Ping G30 recently and loved the Ping. I think value wise Ping is the way to go. Doubt you'll see a difference performance wise and for the price it's hard to beat. Definitely hit a few different clubs before buying.

Speaking of drivers i walked into golf exchange today and noticed Wilson has a driver for sale for $449! I couldn't believe my eyes. Has anyone hit this?

Added to my Scotty Collection today. New line 'Cameron & Crown' line, which seems was made w/ me in mind -- can't wait to take it out -- if you're a type that likes shorter putters or makes a habit of having them cut down, worth a look.

Went w/ the Newport M2, probably wait til next year for Custom Shop, but it's already pretty slick.

What inspired your new Cameron & Crown putter line?

It first came about as an observation during my travels in looking at what the market needs. I spend a lot of time in Japan and the standard length for putters there is 34-inches versus our 35-inch standard in the United States. This difference in standards got me thinking about what golfers need, in general. And, there’s a need for a 33-inch putter line made for players who prefer, or need, a shorter putter. Not something manipulated. A purpose-built line of putters made at 33-inches. In our Custom Shop, a lot of people send in putters and have us cut them down. And, we do it right. We take a 34-inch or a 35-inch putter and make it a 33-inch putter by balancing it correctly with the right sole weights. Cameron & Crown putters have been designed from the get-go—engineered—to be 33-inch putters. The thought is, instead of having to manipulate the design so the head is heavier, the grip is smaller, and the length is shorter, let's just design it to be 33-inches from the start. This is a growing market, whether for guys, ladies or juniors, who prefer a shorter putter. I just thought it was time to do it and do it right.

Hit Mizunos before you make your final decision.

I have the 2015 version of the M1, with the Rogue shaft and this is the first TM driver that I like, this thing eats up yardage and is forgiving. If you have never tried Bridgestone irons, you should, generally they are couple hundred cheaper than all others, and the forgings are every bit as good.

Hit the Mizunos . . . but ended up falling in love with the Titleist AP1s, think I am going to invest in a set.

Did the same. Love the look of the JPX 900, but they just never felt right for me. Got the AP1's and so far love them. A little more forgiveness, can still work the ball pretty easily, and getting 10-15 yards average of more distance per club.

Just heading back from HHI where I played the newly renovated Atlantic Dunes course, they did a hell of a job, actually like it better than Heron Point, the Dye Course that is also at Plantation Club. Got to play at Hilton Head National as well, and thought it was a nice fun course as well, not as upscale as the Sea Pines/Plantation courses, but worth the $80 green fee for sure.

Glimmer of hope for Woods if successful surgery? Really good article here.....

http://www.golfdigest.com/story/why-tiger-woods-fans-can-take-heart-after-his-latest-surgery
Tiger just needs to call it a career and be done with it. He is rich many times over, his Design company is really taking off, and other ventures as well. He is going to be 42 by the time he comes back. Quality of life is way more important that hitting a golf ball. Play with your buddies but leave the tour to the younger guys to handle. I know its a huge ego thing with him but he had his time, he made a lot of mistakes that is costing him many years of his golf career, but its now to move on.

I figured out how I am going to improve my game. I am going to snap all of my wedges over my knee. My short game will improve dramatically. Save me 4 strokes a side guaranteed.

Simply have F'n sucked the past month. Golf is such a cruel game. When you are on its the greatest game in the world. When you go into a funk it punishes your soul.

Judge, Legislator, or Senator at Capitol Hill in Prattville Alabama?????

The Judge for sure but if you like the links, the Senator is a great course. Our group plays the trail every year for the last 20. Been to Prattville 4 times. Headed to Hampton cove this week.

Other than the 2 golf courses and the Hotel, the World Golf Village has been reduced to the Hall of Fame, IMAX Theater and Caddyshack Restaurant. Hall of Fame has been reduced to 2 floors mainly because of lack of visitors. A little info for anyone planning on going .

Got invited to play Oxmoor in Louisville this week. Never played it. What does the Paddock gang think about that track?

It's fine, always (in my experience) in great shape. Good middle-tier CC in Louisville. I was a member there from '03-'06 back when I first came to Louisville. A lot of people love the course, it just never fit my eye.

A few short doglegs that require placement (or an aggressive bomb), but pretty straightforward aside from that.

Thanks. Hoping to get back to Valhalla this year. The only time I played it was 6 or 7 years ago, and it was in dreadful shape, PGA closed it about two weeks after I played it. I know it must be a whole different ball game when in good shape. Unfortunately, my game is [poop] right now, . . . but such is life. :(

I haven't played it since I was like 16 -- a few golf buddies played it on Sunday, and I had an invite but couldn't make it, and wouldn't have played most likely if I could. It was setup by a member who wasn't even going to be playing -- They spent around $300 per man after it was all said & done, that's just too much for a round of golf in Louisville, no matter the course.

Obviously if you're being treated by a member/company, as many are, that's a different story.

The Judge is very difficult to score on, tons of water. My crew is going in June to play 36 and playing the Senator and Legislator and skipping the Judge. Just wanting to drink, bet, shoot some competitive scores, and relax, so skipping the frustration of the Judge. It is a beautiful track, but rather not start my trip off pissed with my confidence shot.

Heading over to Auburn and play Grand National the next day the Lake and Links. Like it better than Prattville.

We are going to finish up our 3-day trip with a day at Pursell Farms-Farmlinks. Probably my favorite course in AL.

Hate Hampton Cove, especially the River course. The Highlands is a little better, but this is probably my least favorite course on the trail, just ahead of Oxmoor Valley.

I hate the front nine on The Legislator. Just too boring to me. I finally played Ross Bridge a few weeks ago and it was in absolutely incredible shape. It should be at that price point, but it was worth it.

I also played in the Wednesday Pro-Am at the Zurich a few weeks ago and that was just an incredible experience. We had a pretty late pick and played with Kyle Riefers, but he was a really nice guy and fun to play with. Probably won't ever get to experience something like that again.

Yes, but if he is the same guy I think I met a few years ago, he is a ultra rich and successful attorney, while I am but a poor barrister, barely keeping food on my table while I humbly serve the lowly and downtrodden in society.

Update on Woods surgery:

It has been just over a month since I underwent fusion surgery on my back, and it is hard to express how much better I feel. It was instant nerve relief. I haven’t felt this good in years.

I could no longer live with the pain I had. We tried every possible non-surgical route and nothing worked. I had good days and bad days, but the pain was usually there, and I couldn’t do much. Even lying down hurt. I had nerve pain with anything I did and was at the end of my rope. The process leading up to my decision to have surgery was exhaustive. I consulted with a specialist, and after weighing my options, that’s when I decided to go to Texas to have surgery.

You mention the word ‘fusion,’ and it’s scary. Other guys who have had fusions or disc replacements like Davis Love III, Retief Goosen, Lee Trevino, Lanny Wadkins and Dudley Hart … they have all come back and played. But more than anything, it made their lives better. That’s the most important thing … that I can have a life again with my kids.

But, I want to say unequivocally, I want to play professional golf again.
