I looked it up, 2016 Farmers Insurance at Torre Pines. He shot 73 / 70 / 70 / 69. Finished -6 under tor the tournament, beating KJ Choi by 1, who shot a 76 in the final round.

I saw an interesting article about the tax free status of the PGA (also the LPGA and USTA) this morning. Even though the PGA grosses $1.8 billion per year it is considered a 501(C)(6) tax free professional league for tax purposes. The NFL and MLB gave up their tax free status a number of years ago, due partially because Congress got busy 10 or 12 years ago when public pushback on the NFL became acute due to public financing of stadiums, etcetera which led to the NFL giving up its tax free status voluntarily. In the NFL case, it was a distinction pretty much without a difference. The NFL grosses billions upon billions per year but is essentially a pass through entity as almost all the revenue is directed to the individual teams, which are taxable entities. And each team pays many millions in salaries to players and coaches which are also taxable so the NFL generates a tremendous amount of tax revenue. I did not look into MLB but assumed that the same thought process occurred as the NFL.
I have no idea how the PGA revenue is shared. I thought players earned money from the tournaments which are largely paid for by sponsorships. I suppose some portion of the tournament revenue goes to charity, but how much of the $1.8B does the PGA give away? I would not be surprised if the new administration takes a look at such exemptions. Hard to justify if MLB and NFL are not tax free any more.

^^^The tour is usually in excess of $200M+ each year to charities. The Tour Championship itself gives $5M+ each year to local Atlanta charities, and The Players is around $9M+ to name a couple. They give more than the other big 3 sports combined.
Yeah, everyone knows that every tournament has a charitable cause or three (and said that above, although maybe not very clearly), but my question relates to the PGA Tour itself, that is grossing $1.8B. And LPGA, and USTA, etc.
Here is a link to its public filing, which raises more questions: How are Woods, McIlroy, Spieth, Cantlay et al getting paid that much? It is clearly not prize money.

You're forgetting about the PIP money. As I read that, Rory got $15 million in that alone in 2023. Malnati was on the board and it looked pretty close to his prize money. So, PIP, AON, Fed Ex Bonus etc. nothing nefarious other than the PGA found a way to reward people who "impact" the game (not leave for LIV).
After withdrawing from the Genesis Invitational in February, it sounds like Tiger Woods isn't sure about returning to the Tour. He isn't playing in the Players next week. I bet he does play the Masters.
Have felt for awhile now that Tiger is waiting for the Champions Tour but it seems that he may just be tired from all the injuries and ready to chill the rest of his life. Play a few times a year in events such as the PNC with his son, the Masters, design courses, TGL and continue being a voice for the PGA Tour.
Losing a parent affects each person differently....there is no rule book. That may or may not be the reason for his absence, but it is obvious his game isn't anywhere close to playing tour events, and hasn't been for ages. The pop up appearances needs to stop.
He wants the USGA record of all time titles to himself. he's tied now. Expect him to chase that at the US Senior Open for a few years. Im sure he will show up at the Masters and play.
Please get rid of aim point and make these guys line up putts from behind the hole only and get a move on. Un effing real how slow some of these guys are. Watching is becoming more and more painful.
His body may be telling him enough is enough. Saw him at Augusta this past year and he looked fantastic but at what point does he decide he is done with putting himself through the surgeries, rehab, grinding gym sessions, etc. I still think he will give the Champions Tour a go but staying healthy past the age of 50 will be a tall task. Those guys may be older but most are still in great shape for their ages without all the injuries and put in the practice time that he cannot.
I will never forget when Johnny Miller was the commentator during one of Tiger's first tournaments, he said on the air that Tiger better figure out a way to not swing so hard or he is going to have a lot of health issues later on.

Those guys also do something he can no longer do well.....make a lot of birdies. He wouldn't sniff the best old geezers up there even if he was healthy.
Well, before the health issues set in, he did manage to scratch out 82 PGA wins and 15 majors, so not sure that is exactly what JM was predicting.
TBH, saw Tiger at his daughter's soccer championship on TV, plays with his son in hit and giggle events, so seems like he can pretty much live a normal life, just not capable of playing high level PGA golf any longer.
Chandler Phillips scorecard today. 2 of the eagles were improbable and 1 was setup with a 300 yard 3 wood to about 4 feet.
Rory is on another planet. Hits his driver all over that place which you think would be the kiss of death and yet he comes away with a -5 and currently is -7.
That hole is brutal when it is windy, which it was yesterday, and will be even windier today.
