Assuming flights don't get cancelled (fingers crossed), have a tentative tee time at TPC Sawgrass on the 14th. Going to cost some bucks, but it is a bucket list venue. Everyone talks about the 17th hole, but from TV, looks like there are plenty of other opportunities to rinse golf balls there.

Played there in 2005 on the company dime at half of what it is now. Nice memories, beautiful facilities, etc......worth this price today? No....imo, but you can check it off on your list. Valley course layout is better, but not as plush.

Similar scenario to playing Harbor Town.....you can say you did, but would spend $$ on other courses in the area.

Played TPC stadium on Friday. Was a lot of fun. If you pick the right set of tees, it's not as tight as you might think from watching the tournament on TV

I parred half the holes but ended up with a crappy score because I drowned 5 golf balls, water is "only" on 17 holes. Parred all the par threes until I got to 17 and then dumped two in the water. It really is not that tough a shot.I just hit two terrible tee shots

Finally, you would be crazy to play that course the first time without a caddy. There are some really strange lines that I would never have picked out unless the caddy told me where to hit the ball. I also would not want to putt on those greens when they were really slicked up, there is a LOT of slope

^^^17 usually always avg's over par for the tournament. It is not an easy tee shot. Some recent #'s.

Don't doubt those numbers, the par threes can be really tough on that course (especially in the wind) or any course for that matter.

FWIW, The caddy told us that number 13 had the highest three putt percentage on the PGA tour one recent year, that green is ridiculous

And number 8 can play almost 250 yards, usually into the wind, so he said

Victor Perez to LIV. This is the best they can do? Outside top 100 PGA, meaning he would not retain tour card if he didn't ball out this week, which means he was headed back to DP World. Not eligible for any majors this coming year, I believe. This is not a quality get.

I read just today in the WSJ that Saudis don't have as much money as they used to - price of oil is way down. And they are trying to spend a lot of money on infrastructure and building tourist industry. LIV had already announced the days of the big bonuses are over

Uh, he posted that 3 weeks ago.

If Saudis don’t infuse money, then what is the team value? Curious to see what guarantees Perez receives. Assume that comes out of Cleeks money.

Is it me or does it seem like YouTube Golf is sort of dumb? By that, I do not understand how it has a long tail to it when all it is the same “influencers” playing golf and not much else. Fat Perez was a good gimmick for a bit but after awhile it’s just a fat guy who is ok at golf that you will see on weekends all over the country at local courses. I can only watch the same dude hit a golf ball and say something fun or dumb so many times before it gets boring.

Yeah, each guy is regurgitating what another influencer has already done, just with a different partner, course or opponent.
I'm more a No Laying Up guy when they play multiple courses in a country or state, places I haven't played.
I was intrigued by the Internet Invitational but, not knowing who a lot of the guys were, I wished they had done some videos of who these guys were.
They were fortunate Barstool ran it because those guys are drama queens and have personality which made it more entertaining if it was just that Grant Horvat hitting golf shots.

Now they’ve added Laurie Canter, who just got a PGA card via his DPWT finish. Good move money-wise for Canter. 36 year old journeyman.

To LIV lap lickers, this only enforces LIV getting weaker. Not deserving of world rankings. All their “top” players are 4 years older, not better Since they started.

I was surprised about that, but he got into seven PGA events and missed four cuts.Think he finished 55th in the us open, which must have been about his highlight of the year

Money-wise, it makes sense for him. These are not marquee signings.
i see they added to the team purses.
i’m curious what he got paid, since I believe the team pays him now?

Played my last "official" round of 2025 yesterday (last one I can post). In putting my clubs away, I realize that I could run a golf shop out of my trunk.

Including my golf bag with a full set of clubs, I have three putters, two drivers, two aiming sticks, three pairs of golf shoes, a bag of practice balls, a putting drill aid, a weighted club to swing in warm up + the customary range finder and iron cleaner tool.

Damn, am I a hoarder, do you think?

Works for me. I always had an extra polo and shorts in there as well.

I forgot to mention my umbrella in my trunk. Also, I have thought of throwing an old rain vest in there as well, in case I am not at my home course (have a locker) and get caught in unexpected rain shower. I probably would get 5 MPG more if I did not play golf.

Not a hoarder, but you are a quitter...Playing tomorrow, provided no rain and temps above 32 degrees.

Interesting decision for Matt Kuchar and his exempt status.

The question is whether his conditional status as No. 118 in the FedEx Cup will get him into roughly the same number of events as taking a career money exemption.

“We're in somewhat unchartered territory,” he said. “I'm guessing they've run the numbers, but I don't know how well their scenarios work out.”

PGA Tour officials estimate that players between No. 101 and No. 110 in the FedEx Cup — they keep that ranking all year — will get into about 16 of the 19 tournaments, and then have all of the FedEx Cup Fall except for Japan.

Kuchar is eight spots below that group, and subject to drop if he doesn't play well out of the gates.

He has time for his two exemptions. Even in this era of big purses, Kuchar has played so well for so long that he is No. 15 in career earnings at $61,538,738. That's just over $15.4 million ahead of the player at No. 25, so waiting another year to take the top 25 exemption won't cost him.

I've been a golf fan since the 70s. Yes I'm old. But does anyone watch the LIV tour events? I haven't watched a single one.

Rumors circulating that Brooks Koepka will sit out this season and try to rejoin PGA tour, perhaps as early as August. He has not played a LIV event since last August , and PGA has said you have to serve a one year suspension before applying for readmittance.

Still just a rumor, but neither Koepka or LIV has denied it either as of this morning.

LIV CEO said yesterday that he was signed, but didn't 100% say he'd honor it!

If true, what does his LIV contract look like. Assume a breach lawsuit would be coming, no? Got money upfront, assume, so would want some money back.
