On the watchespn app next year. Such a poor product particularly compared to the neulion product. I think the "video is having trouble loading" 10 times tonight.

Oh I didn't know it was being broadcast on ESPN3. The HailState iPhone and Android app is definitely superior to WatchESPN for baseball games.

I have noticed though that State's stream will pixilate a lot of times during lulls is action only to automatically snap back to full HD right before the pitch

The lowering of quality is likely due to your internet connection being unstable. Somebody smarter than me can probably tell you how to stabilize it. Most people's connections are really inconsistent because we just plug our modem up to our wireless router and go. There are actually tons of settings that can be tinkered with to make it better.

I think that watchespn and espn3 are great. Makes so much more content available and it relatively reliable.

But why would it always snap back to full HD right before the pitch? It never(I should say hardly ever) pixilates while action is happening. It's like State throttles down the stream speed during "dead periods" during the game and goes full throttle when play resumes. I can't think of any reason for this other than maybe LT telling Jim Ellis along time ago that this fancy high speed stuff will probably cost us by the minute.

LT probably still has NetZero dial-up.

I will add that when on wi-fi on my phone at work, which I am sure is T1 or faster, I have noticed it as well.

It's a shame

because it took them nearly three years, but they finally got it right. This year, it really has been awesome.

Having said that, I've never really had a problem with WatchESPN.

I have the same problem, I was bouncing back and forth from base and basketball games last night when I noticed the SA game on the ESPN list so I clicked on it and the feed was horrible. Went right back to Hailstate and it was perfect.

Yeah, this pretty much kills hailstate tv, right? I mean, there's some neat content on there other than baseball games, but I'm sure as hell not going to pay $99/yr for it any longer.

I think it's going away but I imagine SEC Network would rent time from the schools to show the games. Like they would pay State to do the broadcasting of their baseball games to be shown on SEC Network. At least that is my guess.

I enjoy having our own announcers piped through though.

If HailStateTV, or M2M to us older subscribers, could carry live football games then it would be awesome. That was always irritating to me. If I missed a game. I would have to wait a day before it was on HSTV.

Have you put the WatchESPN app directly on the Apple TV?

No need to stream from phone anymore. If you haven't, just update the software and it shows up.

I can't speak for your baseball, but I've noticed some basketball games are in SD. Which pisses me off because the commercials are HD, then the broadcast isn't. Usually games on CSS or some crap like that.

WatchESPN is incredible. I have ESPN3 on my laptop thru my ISP and use my inlaw's account info to stream WatchESPN thru my ipad and cell phone.
I am never without sports if I want to watch.

It streams great on 3G even.
