Drew Timme enjoying his last few days of relevance. Probably will see him in that TBT alumni tournament in a year or so

Dude had 36 points and 13 boards. He holds the record for most 20-point games in the history of the NCAA tournament. Doubt he'll ever pay for a beer in Spokane; will probably own an auto dealership there within a decade.

He'll likely be drafted and I think he has enough skills to stick in the NBA, especially as he also seems like a good glue guy.

Good for thought:

Timme gets called for just 1 of multiple walks, on that play in the 1st half, and Zags come up a bucket short.

(I KNOW…THAT’S NOT HOW IT WORKS…BLAH BLAH)

Shoot them underhand, it worked for Wilt.
The goal is to shoot as low of a percentage while having ZERO airballs.

Saying a player should miss on purpose isn't as easy as it sounds. Especially when the one thing you can't do is airball.

I think the play is aim for the backiron. If you are short it goes in. If you are long it banks in, but you have almost zero risk of an airball

It has to hit the rim too though right? So not ok to just hit the backboard?

Doesn’t matter now but this had to be by design on his cut

Why does this shot count? I thought you couldn't be the first player to receive the ball when you came from out of bounds. It looks to me like he was. I still don't understand that rule.

Don't worry, the refs don't either, so you're not alone.

If you take a normal foul shot aiming for back iron you aren’t going to miss so long that it will hit off the backboard and miss rim.

I think if I take 20 free throws trying to miss and create a rebound….
6 go in
14 are successful
0 airballs

It's also a challenge to go against muscle memory of thousands of reps, and it doesn't make sense to practice missing free throws.

That non-call on the walk (OP) is the definition of college reffing this season. Refs looking for the foul calls instead of officiating the rules. If you look at the chests of the players (ie looking for foul contact) you wouldn’t even notice the travel.

Refs need to call the rules (travel, out of bounds, timing issues, etc) instead of slowing down the game and making it about themselves with all these foul calls. This year as worse as ever especially in the B1G.

Also, I am not nearly as good of a free throw shooter as many of these players... So my actual attempts to make a free throw are going to result in more misses than they would to begin with. Telling me to make the free throw probably would result in a better chance of a rebound than telling me to miss it, lol

I mentioned this because at the 8-10U level, I can say from direct observation this is by far the most common outcome I’ve seen on intentional misses. The kids often overshoot it and fail to hit iron. Of course, elementary age AAU is miles different from college but I still think in general if your trying hard to miss you might apply too much force.

Can't believe UCLA put no pressure on the final in bounds play and let the Zags get off the shot- a ridiculously long shot- very comfortably. Happens over and over again. The Bruins deserved what they got.
