Elliot never really recovered from the mental aspect, but he has worked his *** off and been a solid contributor on special teams. Wish more kids had his attitude and work ethic. I hope he can make some meaningful contributions on the offensive side of the ball this year.

That was one of the biggest, most inflamed, recruiting battles that I can remember..... and it basically all for naught. I know that he potentially could have been great before getting hurt and maybe he'll still come back...but as of now, that recruiting battle was totally pointless.

I'd have to imagine that both OM and State did some "unethical" things during his recruitment and just the thought of going on probation for the recruitment of a career 3rd team RB makes me shake my head in fury.
**Disclaimer: Absolutely no "inside info" about his recruitment, just making assumptions about a recruiting battle that seemed to mean so much to both parties involved**

BTW, didn't Gene say that he found bullet holes or something in his car while covering those shenanigans in Okolona? What self-inflated loser

I worry about Nick Griffin coming back all the way. All you gotta do is look at Elliot to see the impact, physical and mental, that injury can have.

but I do not worry one bit about the RB position. Perkins is around for two more years after this year and Milton is getting a lot of high praise right now. We always seem to find serviceable and better than average RBs. Ballard wasnt even an evaluated prospect coming out of high school and the dude dropped almost 1000 on the ground last year and 19 TDs.

With that said, I hope Griffin can make a full comeback and not have any of the "mental" issues associated with a blown out knee.

and monthly members big time!! No credit is being given for the 5 months of free service that was paid for. The monthly folks do get one free month so I guess all is not lost for them.

Meat Market is the ESPN book that was put out a couple of years ago. They followed Coach O thru the recruiting process for a year. There is an entire chapter on Elliot in it. Its a pretty good read.

I talked to an orthopedic surgeon about Elliot and Griffin. He said Rob blew out everything in his knee, not just the ACL like Griffin. Elliot's leg was like a wet noodle with no stability so to speak. I didn't know that until recently. Griffin's ACL is now routine. He will be back full speed and strength. Elliot's injury is/was much, much worse. I used to think Elliot should have done better coming backbefore I knew how bad his injury was.

1. Coach O drinks a crap-load of Red Bull.
2. Coach O once watched a cock fight at a recruit's home.

There is whole chapter on Elliot. The one interesting thing is the fact that Ole Miss recruited him hard. However, they discussed in recruiting meetings that they had some concerns about him. They were concerned that he never dominated lower level competion. Their thought was if you play tailback at Madison Central, Meridian, etc., you will play good competition and your teammates matter. You need blocking in order to put up big numbers against that type of competition. However, if you are a college-caliber tailback playing 2A ball, you should be able to put up big numbers even if your teammates suck and you get crappy blocking. You should look like a man among boys at a lower level school. They were concerned that Elliot never really dominated.
