Now he's writing letters and drawing lines in the sand. Seriously, sit out the next few plays Ross.

[h=1]Letter: Ole Miss AD disappointed in picture[/h]Posted: Wednesday, November 5, 2014 10:56 pm | Updated: 10:57 pm, Wed Nov 5, 2014.

After careful thought and consideration, I feel compelled to express my disappointment in the way you reported the outcome of the Auburn vs. Ole Miss game. Specifically, the way you sensationalized a moment with a grossly depicted image that affects a young man’s life. Furthermore, your response to criticism from readers could be described as nothing short of digging your heels in. Quite simply and most disappointing, you showed no signs of remorse for the incredible lapse of judgment.

We run our athletics department with a well-defined purpose, and we operate daily using seven core values to guide us. Together, those core values comprise our “line in the sand,” and we will defend them when attacked. It is our belief that your actions are at odds with those of those core values: Student-Athlete Welfare and Social Responsibility. So, it is for that reason that I have written to you.

In closing, we know of no other newspaper that has used such a graphic image of a student-athlete’s injury in such a sensationalist way and sincerely hope you have not created a precedent for this type of crass journalism.

What ya gonna do brother?

and we will defend them when attacked

I hate what happened to Treadwell, but I do not recall a fanbase being this sensitive to an injury....

I kind of agree with the bit about the picture (presumably it was a picture of Treadwell's foot folded back) because I don't like to see those published for any player, school, or team.

But he needs to work on his grammar if he's going to write the editor. There's a sentence frag in the first paragraph and a couple extra words in the second. Proper English, especially in a somewhat formal setting, is important.

What newspaper was he writing to?

As an AD he has to let this stuff go

I agree 100% that was a dumb headline/photo to run, but you have to let that stuff go. the letter to the editor section is usually reserved for ******** fans.

ETA: forgot the b word was still banned.

After careful thought and consideration (apparently not enough), I feel compelled to express my disappointment in the way you reported the outcome of the Auburn vs. Ole Miss game. (Because you lost, right?) Specifically, the way you sensationalized a moment with a grossly depicted image that affects a young man’s life. (First, this is not a sentence. Second, it was not a "grossly depicted image." It was a picture of a guy getting tackled with his ankle rolled under him. If you didn't know the outcome of the play, you would probably guess sprained ankle. If anyone is sensationalizing the moment, it's you. And the rest of your fanbase with the whole #PrayforTreadwell campaign.) Furthermore, your response to criticism from readers could be described as nothing short of digging your heels in. (Or standing firm to their beliefs. Perhaps they have some core values to guide them.) Quite simply and most disappointing, you showed no signs of remorse for the incredible lapse of judgment. (Nice job stating the "lapse of judgment" as incontrovertible fact. It's not. You just didn't like it so that makes it bad judgment.)

We run our athletics department with a well-defined purpose, and we operate daily using seven core values to guide us. Together, those core values comprise our “line in the sand,” and we will defend them when attacked. (No one is attacking you bro.) It is our belief that your actions are at odds with those of those (huh? those of those??) core values: Student-Athlete Welfare and Social Responsibility. (Is it socially responsible to leave the field before a game ends?) So, it is for that reason that I have written to you. (Well that, and I know my fanbase will eat this up.)

In closing, we know of no other newspaper that has used such a graphic image of a student-athlete’s injury in such a sensationalist way and sincerely hope you have not created a precedent for this type of crass journalism. (If any institution would be able to identify crass........)

All the posturing to not threaten ****, I am disappointed. Everyday I want to attack him more and more on Twitter. He should be above the fray but he seems to relish it. And I have a feeling the Bears are eating this **** up.

Is this the second letter in a series that started with Alabama's Kenyan Drake injury @ Ole Miss?**

So it's classless for a company to use the moment to sell papers, but it's ok...

..for the bears to use it to sell their football program?

Got it.

Wow.. that was awful..

Specifically, the way you sensationalized a moment with a grossly depicted image that affects a young man’s life.

That's not even a complete sentence.

I should've just read this before I responded. Really good job on the breakdown. Honestly.. if you turned that in to a freshman english comp professor it'd get an F.

"We run our athletics department with a well-defined purpose, and we operate daily using seven core values to guide us... It is our belief that your actions are at odds with those of those core values..."

So, someone else violated the core values that you have set for yourself, and you're going to publicly let them know about it. Personally, I don't think the newspaper should have gone with the photo they did, but the above quote displays a smug self-righteousness that is all too typical.

OM violates several of my core values. Should I write the university to let them know, you know, sense we are imposing things on people here.

Yup, they eat this **** up. They truly believe they are leaps and bounds better than everyone else, specifically us.

He really should have proofread that letter... Or at least had someone do it for him.

Does the "Student-Athlete Welfare " Core Value also apply to State players who consistently have to run through a gauntlet of OM assistants when they get pushed into their sideline in Oxford.
