Good quote from Cohen after last night's game:

Coach Cohen made it clear that former player's kids are welcome in the program after facing Charlie Brentz son Bryce.

"There were times where he beat us when there was nothing we could do, but he is a good player. I'm not sure if there are any more of our alumni football player's sons that are out there that can hit that way… I can assure you we will be knocking on their door."

Brentz is statistically one of the best hitters in the nation and has 20 homeruns on the year. Thanks Polk for recruiting him.

He hurt his arm last season and I don't think he is back 100% this year, but before his injury he was 1-0 record with a 2.20 ERA in 28.2 innings of work and struck out 23 batters as opponents hit .178 against him. He is 4-2 with a 3.90 ERA this year.

He is just a great player that we didn't recruit.

He is from the Knoxville area and their is tons of D-I talent there that UT doesn't recruit. Tommy Pharr is coaching one of the top programs in the largest division of the state (Farragut) and 14 of his players have signed on to play D-I baseball over the past 7 seasons. Eleven of those went out of Knoxville to play ball. That's a lot of talent we should have a pipeline to that we haven't during Polk II.

A few went to Vandy and a couple went out of state. I wonder if lottery scholarships can be applied to private schools like Vandy or if they can be used for out of state players?

You would think we could get a few out of there though every now and then.
