Tyler Russell didn't even get mentioned in SEC players of the week..not even as "other outstanding performances."

Yeah, we did get lucky on them not getting the pick on that pass from Russell just like we dropped a couple interception opportunities of our own.

I don't expect us to get any positive recognition from the press. If we somehow

pull of a miracle and beat Bama, I expect to hear from ESPN and everyone else that, "Bama was never tested and really should not have been ranked that high." Bama could go 11-1, we could go undefeated, beat an undefeated Florida in the SEC title game, and their would be plenty of people in the media coming up with excuses as to why State shouldn't play in the BCS Championship game. The media just doesn't like us.

Now I'm going to call ******** on that.... I see where you're going with this, but there's no way they'd even go that retarded. For us to be undefeated, we'd have to go into Tuscaloosa and Death Valley and come out with W's. I don't think even West coast journalists could pour salt in something like that.

I could see the media spin something like that, as ridiculous as it is. Winning @ Bama and @ LSU in one season alone, is a hell of accomplishment, even if both teams are winless.

He was 3rd in yardage

Wilson threw 5tds
Manziel threw for 395

While as a fanbase we consider 23/39 for 291 2tds outstanding ...the nation does not, we aren't exactly qbu

correct... never go "full retard"... Incog, I do have a question tho... what's up with the MSU run defense? 213/6.3 seems like a lot to allow to a passing team.

note: I DID NOT get to see the whole game.

I would assume that we sold out to stop the pass of which we did a really damn good job for most of the night. We held them to half their weekly average. The D Line could have definitely played better, but we got the job done.

They did this to us in 99, and they're doing it to us again. "You haven't played anybody". When we do beat a decent team, they still say we suck because the other team is having an off year. Trust me, if we win out, the SEC will be having a down year according to the press. They'll throw every excuse not to vote us in the top 2 if there are two other undefeated programs, especially if one of them is Notre Dame. They are sick of the SEC winning the championship year after year, and they'll pull an 04 Auburn on us. We don't have the name recognition like Bama, Florida, or LSU to bump us to the top. It may sound retarded to you, but if you've spent even ten seconds watching ESPN or reading the press, it's clear we get zero respect. Hell, there are members of the press that barely put us in the top 25 in the latest poll.

It started already, Mark Packer's dumbass on Sirius XM today was incredulous...

... that State was ranked #12 because "they haven't played anybody" and he started listing off our schedule and their records. We were the only team he did this to. He said #15 would be ok, but #12 was too high.

No problem with Alabama's current body of work, despite containing one "quality win", Michigan, who isn't even in the top 25.
No problem with Georgia's current body of work, whose only "quality win" was over the same UT bunch that State beat on Saturday and has a loss to a 1-loss South Carolina.
No problem with USC's current body of work, which includes a loss to Stanford, a team that was beaten by a 3-3 Washington team, who was embarassed by LSU.

In fact, by his logic, at #15, Florida State would be ranked higher, despite a loss to NC State, a team that was beaten by UT, who, again, State beat on Saturday.

Brand names get the benefit of the doubt because they're name brands. Nothing you can do about it, but keep winning.

The big fear, from a fan's perspective is that, if somehow lightning were to strike against Bama, LSU, and Florida, and assuming we play tough against A&M, and assuming we don't lay eggs against MTSU, Arkansas, and Mississippi, this is the narrative going in:
1. Even though they ran the table in the SEC, Mississippi State doesn't have the body of work that <fill USC="" OU,="" Oregon,="" Dame,="" Notre="" the="" in=""> have. Kansas State, IMHO, is in the same boat we are. Despite the win over OU, they'll get passed over by, say, Notre Dame when it comes down to it.
2. The SEC is weaker this year than it has been in previous years. Want proof? Mississippi State beat Alabama and LSU. A league is always looked at as weak when a name brand team gets beat by a 'weaker' conference member.
3. It's time we put another conference (or ND) in the championship game.

Of course, if our guys run the table this season, then it's probably a sign that the Mayan prophecy is for real and the BCSNG will be cancelled anyway, so it may not matter.

Look, there's nothing we can do about it as fans but ***** and complain, but "tradition" always seems to win out in these cases, especially when the media is in the tank for (fill in the blank: Bama, Florida, OU, Texas, USC, Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, and to a lesser extent, Miami, Georgia, Auburn, and Tennesse) <fill OU,="" Dame,="" Notre="" the="" in="" Miami="" and="" Georgia,="" Auburn,="" Tennesse,="" extent="" lesser="" a="" to="" LSU="" State,="" Florida="" USC,="" Texas,="" Florida,="" Bama,="" Ohio="" Michigan,=""> and are constantly looking for some glimmer of hope or reason to rank them highly.</fill></fill>
